from my memory and just premier league time; Am I right in thinking only Giggs, Rooney, Owen and Fowler are the only teenage forwards who have made an impact, not a lot really in all that time and going back further it was harder for young lads to get mens football.

Patience is a good trait to have with young footballers.

Franny Jeffers, Alan Smith and Nicolas Anelka are the 6th-4th most successful teenage strikers (giggs is a midfielder/winger in my eyes)

Anelka definitely Smith and Jeffers didn't really hit the heights and stay there, Smith ended as a midfielder his goal return was so bad. The point is not many even in just the Prem era.

In terms of goals. Jeffers scores 17 as a teenager, the others scored more.

Smith at Leeds was a forward as a teenager, and, as a teenager, scored more than 17 goals. If you’re judging teenagers by their goals, that is the definitive premier league top 6. Whether they’re actually ‘successful’ is subjective. ;)

I don't feel your getting the point. I'm talking about The Rooney's oh even Lukaku's of the world not just flash in the pans like Francis bloody Jeffers and Alan Smith who was terrible as a forward. I'm talking phenoms R9 style. I mean not all are anywhere near that level but teenage phenoms are few and far between is what i am getting at.

there's a part of my brain can't understand changing our bench where he only has DCL in front of him to having Mbappe, Neymar and Icardi in front of you, makes no sense, he's only going to be a sub again. I honestly believe it's personal reasons and he won't be back here in Blue.
Agree. Something not making sense here . All very strange as he’s not exactly even shown us anything and yet signs for PSG and plays for his country. Not getting it !

Well known that he told Juventus he wasnt extending his contract and had 1 year left on the deal.

He'll be a very good player for PSG if they play to his strengths...lots of games and goals.

Gone there for game time.
I thought that was why he came to us, so how did that work out? He hardly got a look in, and, like Lookman, there’s a reason for that.

Very poorly advised. Thinks he’s the finished ticket because of wasters around him blowing smoke up his proverbial. We’ve seen It a lot with young footballers over the years. The antithesis of DCL who is very grounded and realises you have to graft to get to the top.

That’s my opinion on Kean anyway.

It's hard to categorise that way though because 'phenoms' are few and far between in general. There have been loads of teenagers who've done well and gone on to have decent careers, but obviously the number who've gone on to be world class is very small simply because thats a very select group to begin with.

My point being as you have agreed, teenagers tearing it up are few and far between so to write a 20 year old off who is highly rated by a lot of coached in the game is folly.

I think writing off any player at any age can be a dangerous game. Wes Morgan hadn't played a single minute of top level football until he was 30. At 32 he was lifting the PL trophy and and playing in the latter stages of the CL. That doesn't mean we should keep hold of Matty Pennington in case the same thing happens though.

What you're saying is true, but you've also inadvertently highlighted just how many players burst on to the scene and never live up to their early promise. It could go either way with Kean, it's very difficult to tell.

Yeah, I think the whole point I am making is about not writing them off too early, sometimes it can all fall into place as we have seen with DCL. Others burst on the scene and fade, it's a rare few who actually live up to the golden boy tag but doesn't mean they can't if allowed to develop properly.
