I still think he was 100 percent right to ask for a loan if he didn’t expect to play. It just happened to be when we are short on viable strikers, but that is hardly his fault as I’m not sure he was viable at this point himself in Carlo’s eyes.

We can talk about all of the intangibles he lacks, etc. etc. but all we gain if he stayed are an inexperienced young striker and an even further knockoff on his price. We waited on Lookman and it backfired. His mind was already made up. I expect him to play at PSG as opposed to Juve because they do rotate frequently. Definitely a better fit in my eyes.

There are articles today stating that PSG can buy Kean for £18m next summer if they want to, not sure how accurate this is, the article also states that we paid £25.1m for him, which from what I can find is probably correct. I think he could be worth that, in a seasons time as he would be going into the 3rd year of his 5 year contract.

I hope he does well while he is at PSG and either returns to us or gets a move elsewhere. its not good for players to keep going out on loan, 1 year is OK, but not beyond that, I think they then are in danger of becoming another "Sandro"

Probably has a 7m loan fee

i'd be amazed if we are interested in making a loss on a 20 year old Italy International, especially as the potential buying team is PSG with all their money.

As someone has pointed out, there is probably a decent loan fee too.

And for FFP reasonings i dont think it would go down as a loss? with his book value being lower than what we paid for him after 2 seasons (if he gets sold at the end of the loan).

I think, i dont know how FFP works exactly but think that is the right thing with how it works.

from my memory and just premier league time; Am I right in thinking only Giggs, Rooney, Owen and Fowler are the only teenage forwards who have made an impact, not a lot really in all that time and going back further it was harder for young lads to get mens football.

Patience is a good trait to have with young footballers.
Rashford was 2 weeks past his 18th birthday when he made his debut and has pretty much been part of the squad since. Also 18 when he got his England debut.

Mason Greenwood was 17 when he made his debut for United and also 18 when he got his England debut.

I think it's fair to say both of these have made an impact.

You could also put forward an argument for Alan Smith at Leeds too who made his debut at 18 and stayed in the squad.

I honestly think his attitude is wrong, he's 20 years old ffs.

My point being as you have agreed, teenagers tearing it up are few and far between so to write a 20 year old off who is highly rated by a lot of coached in the game is folly.
There's a big difference between expecting him to tear it up and wanting him to contribute, though.

Jesus came into the City team at 19 and scored seven in 10, whereas Rashford and Martial scored less frequently but were able to offer something out of position or as a willing outlet, which is how a lot of of young players find their feet. Kean's problem is that in addition to not being able to push himself into the team ahead of Tosun or Calvert-Lewin, he also showed next to nothing off the bench.

It'll suit him to come into the PSG team for games where they expect to win by three or four, but he'll be nowhere to be seen at the business end of the season.

A minor loss now vs a complete loss if he comes back and is a dud for a couple of yearss.

I suppose it depends how they view him as a player though. Just because we paid £27m for him doesn't mean he's worth it to someone else. I said back in January:

'My hope would be that we wouldn't entertain a bid for Kean because we think he can come good, but if we let it be known he could go, any club willing to offer more than half what we paid would have to have Steve Walsh in charge. The second we say he can go we're admitting that he can't make it here. We have no bargaining power in that situation and would likely accept a loan with a £18m or something option. We've seen it happen before, it shouldn't be a surprise to anybody.'

This is the reality of transfer fees, everybody from Klaassen to Walcott is theoretically 'worth' more than we sold them for, but convincing somebody to pay the fees we'd want in an ideal world is a different matter.
