2020/21 Moise Kean

....but posters say he’s a top finisher but when the clear chances he missed are highlighted there’s an excuse. There’s always an excuse.

The bottom line is he was totally ineffective for us and that is only down to him.
Likewise there's always an excuse to bash the lad.
Frankly this thread (and Kean's from last year) is some of the most disappointing things I've read on this site. Seems people made their mind up on him around November last year and no stats or anything he can do will change their opinions because people refuse to admit they could be wrong. He's getting regular minutes and scoring but then comes the 'farmers league' excuse. Its quite pathetic to read.

Honestly looking forward to when he leaves just so the thread gets locked.

I'm as ready as anyone to jump on our club for wasting young players but I'm genuinely not sure how we are supposed to get him the minutes he wants when we aren't in Europe and DCL is bang in form. Even Dom's stretch of not scoring in the restart only reached the point where you'd think about giving Kean a go with 2 or 3 games left. And we were playing so horrendously at that point that I doubt Kean would have got much joy out of it anyway.

Scored on his only start in the restart games so.....

Effectively he's playing for a move the more he scores the bigger the fee so let's hope it continues

He has failed to put in the type of effort for us and a has only shown us glimpse of ability. Playing at 25% ain't good enough for the fans or ancellotti

....well @Zatara says ‘Keane in on goal is pretty much lethal”. Check out the unbelievable through ball from Iwobi in the Anfield Derby that put him clean through. A perfect situation, only the keeper to beat and he drags it wide of the post.

There’s a benchmark with the best goalscorers; when they have a chance ‘you expect them to score’. With other players, ‘you hope they score’. If Kean has a chance I certainly don’t expect him to score, and he’s also very wasteful in promising situations which you expect a decent striker to exploit.

Folk continually make excuses for his time at Everton. He’s far from lethal.

This is also what I wrote

"
Mate, check out his finishes for Juventus, Italy and now PSG...hes a natural finisher.

Kean on goal is pretty much lethal in every side and age group hes played in.

Apart from with us when we never used him in that way "

So, why is it that he can score goals in any age group for Juventus and Italy and now with PSG.

Yet he cant score goals for us from "unbelievable" through balls...

Again, hes lethal everywhere but Everton in his extremely rare and limited appearances for us.

...if he‘s expert at getting into great positions and he’s a top finisher his goal return would be far better than 2 goals in 31 appearances.

I’m critical of Ellis Simms and his performance for the U23s the other night, but he does come alive in the box. I‘m convinced if Simms had the same game time as Kean he’d have more than 2 goals and Simms is a long way from being a first teamer.

How many games worth of minutes did he actually play for his 37 games and 4 goals i wonder...

In the league across this and laat season he plahed 879 minutes (per whoscored) for Everton.

Thats under 10 games worth of minutes.

When he started against newcastle he looked good...then he was suddenly dropped.

...he was dropped because he was ineffective. The only reason he failed to get game time was because of him. Gordon broke through and got far more time on the pitch because he was more effective.

Remember posters saying DCL should be left out to give Kean a run of games. Kean didn’t get a run of games because he didn’t earn it.

This world of ours does not always run on merit. Football is no different.

He's actually putting some effort in now that he's at a club that he feels is worthy of him 'trying'.

Never doubted his ability, the same way I don't doubt that he will come back sulking like a baby that he's no longer living in Paris exchanging whattsapp messages with mbappe and neymar.

He may surprise me and try and make a go of it, but I get the feeling his gob will be doing most of the work and not his feet.

Certain things stick out from his time with us - the sub from Ferguson, that was no accident or change of mind... Dunc had the likes of ebbrell and Jeffers assisting him - it came after 10 minutes of him strolling around at a time when Dunc had every player running through walls.

His unbelievable half of football where he showed power, work rate, pace, tenacity ..... Never seen it again (forgot who it was against) but it was a definite half that made me realise he had ability and could cut it 'if he wanted to'

His sulky grab the ball and not celebrate penalty in the league cup.... Gordon won the penno and Kean grabbed the ball and blanked Gordon's congratulations on the conversion.

Final note, Ancellotti rated him enough to try and sign him for Napoli - he has now loaned him out. I trust him to make the right call.

That may all be true Eggs but comparing him to a peak Gary Lineker was grossly unfair

He's scored too flight goals for Juventus Everton PSG and Italy. By the same age Lineker had played a handful of games in the old second division.
