sell kean for 35 mil with gana as a loan till end of the season. Use that 35 mil to get us zaha using Tuscan as bait
You could get Eze for about the same price as Zaha. I don't get the fascination with him. We should be signing young good players along side more experienced players like Hamez. Eze or Bowen are better value than Zaha.

Eze is another one that if we wanted him we should have been taking him off QPR. For me though the guy is still Buendia in that kind of role. Or someone from outside England as quality always exists abroad if you can find it.

Bowen to me is a bad fit. He's a goalscoring winger with meh creative ability and we've got that covered in Richarlison.

With the way ffp works, though is that even a thing at the moment. If we get 31 and then say buy a winger for the same price over 5yrs on say 80k a week.

The 31 goes straight into the accounts and the new signing is worked out over the length of contract and wages so 50 mil over 5 yrs. means we would be 20mil in front. I’m sure it’s not as straight forward as that. And someone on here will know exactly, but I don’t think I’m miles off

His book value was 22.4 mill in July. We clear the difference from whatever we make, yet he was a really small enabling wage so for me that and his quality made him an important young player in the squad for us. Annually through Amort and wages he cost us 8.3 million,

If we sold him for £31 million this month whats the book profit mate overall?

Depends on a couple of thing mate. We may have got a loan fee for him and PSG could be paying his wage, I suspect they are as his loan had little advantage to us, beyond financial remuneration.

He is six months in to the accounting year so if we halved his 5.6 mill amort, I make his book price about 19.5 mill. So about 11.5 million.

His wages are 2.76 mill a year. So we wouldn’t have that liability.

So likely we would make an accounting profit of 11.5 million on a 31 mill deal.
Save 2.76 million a year in wages.
While overall year on year we save 8.36 annually in the PL account.

Would be against this deal myself.

Heres my view...

From memory the fee was £22mil with £5mil in additional clauses.

His book value today would be about £15.4mil as he wont have hit the clauses.

For an italian international 20 year old forward, playing and scoring for one of the richest clubs in the world then that sale carries a premium.

If its true that theyre making him an offer now then clearly its a priority for them to tie him down...that also should carry a premium.

He's 1.5 years into a 5 year deal and the length of contract hes under also carries a premium.

Since 00/01 season they have signed 15 players for more than €31mil:
https://www.transfermarkt.com/fc-paris-saint-germain/transferrekorde/verein/583

Comparing the players listed you'd put him in the €40-50mil range which is about £36-45mil.

Id be asking for £60mil based on the factors listed above but £40mil+ id be ok with as its £25mil on the book value profit.

Also we'd save on his wages of course...

If we got £40mil for him then thats about £25mil in book value profit on the accounts.

Theoretically you could then spend £25mil this summer + each of the next 4 summers (£125mil) based upon making a £25mil profit.

However, its not magic beans so would need to be balanced off.

No to Zaha.

29 this year, enough signing risky players past their sell-by date looking for one big last contract.

Two years ago, sure. Not now.
To be honest, the league is In disarray signing a proven premier player at his peak that gives us real options and threats upfront is a gamble but could result in us slipping in to a top for position.
Signing younger would normally be my position, securing a player at his peak at this point could be the best long term decision we make. Playing Champions league footvall changes the whole proposition for us next season

I hope the timing suggests we are willing to do the deal now to reinvest this January.

Otherwise why not delay and rinse them for a bit more - don't think his value is going to decrease unless he gets injured.

Looks like the story might have some legs.
Only thing will be the new manager wanting to look at him over the remainder of the season rather than take the plunge now.
Either way I can't see the lad himself wanting to come back to England.

He'll become a very solid player. He's a natural finisher, Just every other part of his game needs working on. Like others have said 35-40m with sell on clause would be fair to me.

Rubbish - we spent £22 million on a near 30 yr old Allan who wasn't even in Napoli's plans whilst Gana was literally our best midfielder and played every game he was available for.

Players with the engine of Gana could play into their mid 30's like Milner etc. £30 million wasn't near enough considering who we were selling to - kin Qatar state backed PSG who spend money like its going out of fashion.
Wasn’t gueye in the last year of his contract?

Was Kean ever decent for us?

Well I think he seemed to be finding his feet around this time last year on the few occasions he played with Dom or Richarlison.

He's never going to be a loan striker and we lumped him up there under Silva and it was clear he had plenty of deficiencies.

But the point that it'd have been nice to have been able to play Kean rather than Tosun is a fair one.

Main issue isn't that he went on loan, it's that we did f all to replace him.

nah he'd signed a new one

Still think £30-35m was probably fair market value but considering how much we've paid for players in the past, maybe a bit on the cheap side.

Fee wise, however, we made a huge profit on Gana.
