2020/21 Moise Kean

It's worth remembering that Kean is very highly thought of regardless of his time with us.

There are reasons why things have not worked out here so far, it doesn't make him any less highly thought of by other clubs as they will see that he has not really had much game time here and his direct competition for a place in the team has been in great form.

Also Neymar is getting more injuries and Mbappe won't be at PSG forever, possibly may not even be there after this season.

The problem is that until Neymar or Mbappe leave Kean will be a rotated player so PSG will unlikely go overboard however I think you have to factor in his age and what he's done at PSG even if he's a rotational player. 8 goals in 12 apps...that is really good even for the farmers league, Also 31m for someone in my eyes has a high % to turn into a very talented player is too low. You could say PSG could buy some other lad if they don't want to go overboard but they also want to win games while resting the big guns and if Kean bags them goals then I don't see why we shouldn't ask for more.
PSG know at this stage they have a young player who can (not might )score goals for them
At 20 ,a full Italian international and a proven goal scorer he is worth a lot to them
Would we pay 40m for a 20 yr old Italian international who has proven he can score goal's in our league
I think we would and so will PSG

I didn't reply last night because i got bored mate, not because you'd bamboozled with me an amazing point. I have addressed the point in every reply previously, and so have other people.

It's as if you've never bought or sold anything before. Of course in theory it's entirely up to us how much we sell him for. We can ask for whatever we want, we can turn down any bid and point blank refuse to sell him, he can't leave unless we allow him to. We hold the cards in that sense, nobody has disputed any of that. The point is that in the real world, I think we probably do want to sell him, he will want to go, and I'm not sure that PSG will be that desperate to buy him. They'll want to buy him obviously, but there's a difference between saying 'yes this is good business at £35m' and 'this is our number 1 target in world football and we will pay whatever it takes to get him in'. They have money and pulling power, if we say we want £60m they might well say well if we're going big we might as well go really big and sign Haaland instead, see you later.

I'm obviously only giving an opinion, I may be way off, but my feeling is that we will not be able to get a lot more than is currently being mentioned.
Haarland will cost at least 100m and there will be major competition for his signature from City (need to replace Augero ),United (need a true CF ) Barcelona (never replaced Suarez) Real Madrid (Benzema getting old ) Athletico Madrid (need to replace Costa) even Bayern who will need to replace Bobby L shortly
Not saying all of these can afford 100 m but a lot of top clubs will be looking for a CF in the next 2 seasons

Haaland is just an example. The point is just that i'm not sure Kean will necessarily be PSG's number 1 target out of everybody in the world. There's a difference between thinking somebody is worth buying and being willing to go all out to get them. Again, I may be wrong, they may think he's the absolute best around and be willing to pay through the nose, but I'm not currently convinced that's the case. We'll see I suppose. If he goes for £60m I'll come on here and say wow I got that one massively wrong, shows what I know, Brands has played a blinder, great stuff all round etc etc. If he goes for £35m you can guarantee people won't come and say they got it wrong, they'll claim that they were still 100% right and we've sold him for £20m less than somebody would have been willing to pay.

I have a feeling that Kean will not be sold
I think he will be back next summer and given game time
If we get Europe he will be needed
Unless PSG or someone else offers big money I think Carlo and Brands will keep him

I don't see it personally. I just don't think he really fits in here, and I think from the club's point of view it would be a big risk for us to take him back and him have the same struggles as he did last year. If that happened then we really wouldn't have any bargaining power, and would probably end up selling at a loss (in headline terms, not accounting). The PL really is a different beast. Not saying it's better or France is a farmers league or whatever, but you need different attributes, both to play here and to play for an also ran rather than the league's dominant team. I had a quick look at the top scorers list in France, it has 6 former PL players in it (including Kean). Those 6 players scored 14 goals in 162 PL games between them. They have 44 in 95 games in France this year.

I hope you're right though. If he comes back and does for us what he's done for PSG it would be fantastic, that would definitely be the ideal situation.

Carlo was asked about him in his press conference.

Without saying it explicitly, he basically said if PSG put a bid in that is good enough (now or the summer) we would take it.

Fair to say, we won't see him again in Blue shirt.
Yeah I think he won’t be back. He clearly pushed to leave in the summer as he would definitely have got game time this season given the fixture congestion we have. If he’s scoring goals for PSG in the CL then can see a few teams in for him.

He wasn’t great in the PL but if he had persevered he might be an option as a wide forward in a 433. Not gonna happen though methinks.

But but but

We don't know keans situation, if he's told he'll play lots of games next season he might be willing to give it another go.

Isn't he their top goalscorer? Apart from the obvious players such as haaland and mbappe, is Kean not the highest scorer in Europe right now around his age?

Don't know how many times I can say the same thing mate, young players who score goals will go for a fortune, we will not be selling kean on the cheap.
I like the lad and hope we keep him to be fair. I actually meant to put in brackets 'if that's really the case' after the sentence about him not wanting to be here. I kind of bowed the consensus on here on that one but I'm not really convinced he's not happy at Everton. Only that he wanted more minutes.

And as for the price he may or may not go for. I think I may have expressed myself badly. What I was trying to say is that IF (not necessarily the case) the club want to sell, PSG might call their bluff and say they're not paying more than 31 million as they're not desperate (or maybe they are. Mbappe may be off to Madrid in the summer and who knows what's happening in Neymar's universe

We've hardly rotated still. I'm not sure if he would have.

I think mbappe will be off myself tbh, and as you and others have said if mbappe goes and neymar being the maverick that he is, a young goal scorer would be needed to fill those shoes and Kean has done there and done well.

So as I said we should wait until the summer and reject anything they offer this window ( unless it's a ridiculous bid ) because then you have seen how he has done over a season, if they sell mbappe you know they a) need to replace him and b) have money burning a hole in their pocket so you can literally ask for what you want.

I'm not against selling kean ( even though I think could potentially have a massive future for us ) aslong as we don't bend over fee wise like we did for Rooney etc
