2018/19 Morgan Schneiderlin

It tells me that Sigurdsson doesn't do enough to get himself on the ball, as has been pointed out by many on here many times.

What I mean by unfair is the type of thing you've done there. Suddenly the goalposts have moved, at first we were talking about him not playing as well as Davies, then when that gets debunked we say the stats don't tell the story, I refute that and so now he's in a young team - not really like, I reckon there were about 300 senior caps in our starting XI, which probably had a similar age profile to our opponents and a lot more top level experience - and he's not getting the ball forward to the right people. We can't risk saying he didn't pass it forward enough because that can be refuted with facts, so we have to put the completely unquantifiable 'right people' bit in just to make sure that the argument holds up. It's unfair because some people are just unwilling to say 'he did alright to be fair'.

Have his performances been great? No, I've said that loads of times. Have they been bad? Absolutely not, no. He's been fine this season, a functioning member of the team who has played reasonably well. He won't suddenly start spraying defence splitting balls all over the gaff or dribbling past people because he hasn't got it in his locker. What he can do, and has been doing, is offer a relatively stable presence in the middle of the pitch, moving the ball around and being a shield.

We've got people saying Tosun can't be criticised at all because he's got two assists playing up front, but Schneiderlin's fair game despite having one assist from defensive midfield, in a game and a half less. Neither of them have been, or ever will be, brilliant in my opinion, but they've both played at about the same level I reckon.

We can................................maybe your enough, and my enough are not the same thing
You could pass a ball forward at a 6 degree angle out slowly to slightly more advanced than you full back, and that would be classed as a forward pass

I think you concentrate a little to much on stats it instead of just watching.

Let me introduce you to Jordan Henderson, his stats are phenominal, better than any defensive midfielder in the league, including N'Golo Kante
No, I've said repeatedly that i'm simply using the stats to back up what I see with my own eyes. They're additional, not the crux of the point. You wanted to use a stat about the number of passes Sigurdsson made because it suited your argument, and then the age of the team for the same reason, but you won't accept the other stats because they don't fit your narrative. Remember when I talked about being unfair? That's the type of thing I meant.

Also, at the risk of defending 2 Liverpool players in 2 days, this constant use of Henderson as an example of a poor player makes me laugh. He's good, anyone with eyes can see that. He's just captained a team to the CL final, is a guaranteed starter for a team which looks like making a genuine title challenge and has about 50 England caps under a load of different managers, but people want to say he's not as good as Tom Davies, it's embarrassing.

Phil Neville has 59 England Caps, Has won a Champions League Final, And was constantly selected by the greatest manager ever, plus a shed load of trophies more than Hendo

Is one of your things you like to do is fabricate things?

You're not helping yourself here, he was a good player as well. Not everyone has to be wonderfully gifted and technically brilliant, you can be effective without playing like Messi, unless you're suggesting that all those England managers, the greatest manager ever, and other top level managers know less than you?

I'm not sure why you need to reply numerous times to the same post but i'll try and keep my responses together. I've actually genuinely seen that Davies/Henderson thing on twitter more than once, but I wasn't really trying to be a stickler for accuracy, rather just highlight the myopic idiocy of some who refuse to accept the quality of a player because of either tribal loyalty or a pre-conceived opinion that they won't be shaken from.

I'd like to know his reasoning for getting himself sent off against Lyon.

Couldn't care less about the arsing around him and Mirallas did on the training ground.
He does say how that happened doesn't he?

Something about wanting recognition for france but we got battered and he lost his head

I don't take a lot of notice to stats to be honest, I think it is a lot better to use the judgement of your own eyes,
To which there are certain blues whom needs theirs testing asap.

The interview explains it... he saw it as a chance to impress with his country's eyes watching and we got stuffed, so he got frustrated and lashed out. He admits it was stupid.
