It's a shame that, because there are also examples like Barry, maybe Milner (sorry I know) and, I dunno, now I can't think of any , Old pros who still have the professionalism to do their best at any stage in their careers. But it's a good point, because Walcott, Rooney, Ashley Williams are all in that category, and then if you don't mind puking, go further back to the people like Ginola and Gazza, and mostly those on the way down do badly!

Actually that boss Swedish striker...the Celtic one..he was amazing when he was older. And of course Ibra but he's a different story.

Henrik Larsson?

Henrik Larsson?

Yeah Henrik Larsson. He was a good example of someone peaking late or maintaining their fitness standards late
Rooney was terrible, attitude and fitness was horrible
Schneiderlin I don't understand what type of player he's supposed to be
Anyway
As the main says above, every time this goes to the top you think he's gone ...maybe Monaco or Nice need him.

Quite. That Moyes fella was on to something, signing the likes of a Pienaar, Arteta, Cahill, Lescott, Baines, Coleman, Jagielka on the cheap. On their way up with something to prove.

Is our scouting team just not very good anymore at identifying younger, hungrier players, a winning mentality with the correct attitude? Or, is it just easier to spend a fortune on "established" players and throwing money at them, at the risk of said players no longer perhaps having the desire?

We do buy younger, hungrier players though.

We then call them crap for not being the finished article by the time they are 20.

That's it exactly. We don't have patience, and we have raised our expectations to such a level that we expect Sterling, Harry Kane, Delle Ali etc, from our young players, if not Neymar and Mbappe.

We need to have patience. For god's sake we are the same fans who accepted Lee Carsley, Hibbo and Osman (even though he played like a mini Pirlo Lol) so we can surely have patience for our 'golden generation' DCL, Kenny, Lookman, Davies, Dowell, Vlasic and Richarlison - great group to have at our club...not to mention Beni,

Even our guys in their mid 20s are 1-2 yrs off their best - Mina, Keane, Pickford for instance

One more thing - young players in general may not be as hungry as they used to be?!

But looking at their work rate, I think they are doing ok

How is this waste of space still here?

because lots and lots of clubs around Europe want him...

but they want to pay him his true worth of 20k a week..

that would mean him taking a £100,000 A WEEK PAY CUT

its not happening, and wont be happening with several others who have been put on extremely over the top wages

these were all sanctioned by Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri so its rests at their door.
