Sky Sports News HQ’s man in the North West, Ben Ransom, has the latest developments on the future of Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

"It looks like there is a bit of a battle hotting up to sign Morgan Schneiderlin; we understand contact has been made between Everton and Manchester United,” he toldTransfer Centre.

“Talks are at an early stage but there's definite interest. It's been reported their opening offer of £19m has been rejected by United, who want closer to a £24m valuation.

“There's definite interest from other clubs as well - West Brom's opening offer of £18m was rejected but according to Sky sources, Schneiderlin is their No 1 target in this window. We also understand they are willing to pay more.

“There are also reports this morning that Marseille might try to take him back to France."
skybet going slowly then

Utd arent going to sell to us on the cheap are they? Not when we have a chairman describing transfer fees as monopoly money and especially not when we pulled their pants down over the Fellaini transfer. Just pay the money that they want because we need a high energy midfielder and with Gana away we desperately need another body to support Davies and keep Barry as a player to bring on to see games out. I bet that 19 mill offer was still all clause based with probably only 10 mill up front.

Totally understand - we're just the fans and have no clue what the discussions involve. I just don't want us to be a Chelsea or Man City in the transfer market where, because we have a bit of financial backing, clubs inflate their price tags for their players. I'd be much happier getting the likes of Guaye for 7m, Cahill for £2m, Arteta for £2.5, Coleman £60k etc...

Obviously I was delighted with the Lukaku signing as it meant we may be able to compete at a higher level, but paying £28m for Bolasie was absurd. Don't want us to be spending over the odds for any player. I'd be happy with 22-24 million for Schneiderlin.
Thing is that model won't get you into the top 6. We built decent teams out of gambling on players whose stock was low, but to seriously compete you need to pay the asking price for quality. Had Gana's agent not been astute enough to insert a release clause, he'd have cost us nearer 15mil.
Football has always been this way and historically we had always been one of the top spending clubs envied and hated by many because of this. Our demise has mirrored our inability to compete financially (,until now hopefully) with the wealthy clubs at the top.

That's the market, that's the price you pay, again can't understand people's dislike for Bolaise, our most creative player, plus he didn't choose the fee.

52 million for Oscar?, enough said, never liked him on Sesame Street either.....
