Schneiderlin had a very good game last night and patrolled in front of the defence really effectively. I like the way he looks to pass forward, and with better movement in front of him, he will quickly turn defence into attack.

I don't see how you can say what he can't do after only 6-7 games of his career. He has improved massively in those games and will no doubt have bad patches... the more he plays the more he will learn and if he keeps learning we will eventually be able to see if he can or can't play further forward... my opinion is that he has the potential to play that role

Every single one of our midfielders had occasions of giving the ball away last night, but it seems it's always Barkley who gets it in the neck. Probably because he has extra responsibility on him being the attacking link.

I'm not saying Davies couldn't do it, but as far as i'm aware he's not played as an attacking mid has he?

Couldn't agree more with this. Barkley gets judged to way different/higher standards to any other player by lots.

This being said, I'm not suggesting davies would take over from barkley, just potentially an option when barkleys game isn't having it.
There are other options though too, playing tighter to lukaku etc or throwing another striker to produce options in front of him.

I dont think there's any doubting he is a decent midfield player. I just think we overpaid for him by about £10M and that position wasn't a crucial one to be filled.

He might come on leaps and bounds and in dimensions I/we dont think possible. But he looks like a different type of player to that. Tbf to him, he accepts he doesn't have a great repertoire of moves he can deploy and that he'll work on doing the stuff he is good at even better. That is very commendable and very astute for someone of his age.

He is quite easily a 24 mil player in todays money mate, I think you struggle to grasp inflation. The 14mil we paid for McCarthy is probably the equivalent of 24mil now and Schnieds is much better.
 
Hes a very good no 8 to my mind and balanced player between defense and attack, he will transition the play, battle and block. no way is he a play maker or someone who going to get over 4 assists and goals a season and rightly so its not his role or skillset.

Although strikers, palymakers and wingers are the exciting signings you really need a good core that can be provided for players of that nature to perform, they will do nothing without the ball, so winning and retention is key. Two good centre halfs and two good central midfielders with a balanced game is the core of any food team.
 
I thought he looked outstanding, and was delighted with his passion in helping ensure our goal was correctly given by getting in front of the linesman and having his voice heard. Can you imagine captain fantastic Jagielka doing so? He'll only get better in time. I'd like to see Davies played in Barkley's position with Schneiderlin and Gueye behind him, Ross on the bench. I think that could have potential.

Only Koeman would have paid that price for a player not in their own team's plans. I cant remember a stampede for Schneiderlin's services at that price, can you?

We'll never know - if Schneiderlin wanted to be back working with Koeman, other teams would have known early to swerve.
