Morgan Schneiderlin

I wish you would pick that apart...the devil is in the detail: he was a bit part player in that cup run and his international career is modest.

Put your medals on the table lad! :) To be fair he has represented France at every level from 15 up and has 14 senior caps two years after making his debut thats petty decent.

I didnt want to have to pull out my Charity Sheild card this early in the debate either. :)

Forget all the Moshiri spin, our resources are finite. We have a lot of first team positions that need filling and that will cost. £50M for Schneiderlin and Bolasie...I swear to God in a few years time we;ll be looking back at these purchases and shaking our heads in disbelief. The pair taken together are worth £25M....a very generous £25M.

OK, let me put it this way. I don't care how much players cost in a world where Jeffrey Schlupp goes for anything over £3m.

Prices mean nothing. Absolutely nothing. Especially in the English game.

Jordan Rhodes went to Sheffield Wednesday on deadline for £10m. It's insane. But it is what it is.

If you want someone, you pay it.

The fee might have caused eyebrows to be raised, but by then we knew already from experience of a season with him in the team that he would be crucial to the set up and strikers like him are a premium.

We sold Lescott for £24M and Stones for £50M or whatever, Morgans fee is just the going rate. If he turns into a decent player we will be happy, if he doesn't we can have a fume.......

"The Express can reveal"

Pissing meself here.

There's a whole host of sources that say they made a number of bids for him and Pulis is quoted as saying it was the players choice where he went in the end.

But in Dave's World we overpaid by £6/7m when we just paid what the market dictated - £20m plus add ons of a potential further £4m.

Why you can't just be happy that he's here and he's a more than able replacement for Barry, I've no idea whatsoever.

It well and truly is Groundhog day isn't it. Same old nonsense in every single davek thread. He is right everyone else is wrong. It's not even about Schneiderlin any more.

FWIW I think he will be a quality addition. Cost wise it really doesn't matter. No player in world football should be worth what we paid but this is what football is now. That said, it's not like we have just paid the money for a clogger from Blackburn. He's a French international footballer being bought from Manchester UTD and most certainly will improve us.

It's better than a Johan Cruyff Shield anyway.

Yes they do. When you spend a set amount of cash, it is spent.

Perhaps you forgot the Moshiri AGM sttatement about a small window available to invest and then the club has to be self sustaining.

There is no bottomless pit of cash at this club for players. Either Lukaku or Barkley or even both will be sold in the summer and that will cover a lot/all our spending so far. So, you see, you really SHOULD care about prices paid.

Thought Morgan was much better last night. He was very controlled and played a lot of nice little forward passes that if Barry had been in the side would have gone sideways. Didn't get to see his long passing last night as the wind was really bad, especially in the second half.

His performance last night, to me was proof that more likely than not, this purchase will prove to be a bargain.

You SHOULDN'T be telling me or anyone else what to care about.

We don't control the market, the prices have risen in line with the increase in TV income, it's all relative.

Moshiri's comments were accurate, as there's rules on level of losses permitted under both UEFA and PL FFP, together with the wage level increase cap.

Of course the club will therefore have to become self sustaining in the future, same as Chelsea and City have done.

None of which makes your bleating about the fee we've paid for Schneiderlin in any way relevant.
