I'm not saying they're unimportant. Kante provided a base for a player like Mahrez to play off. The latter won Leicester the title. He was the key player.
Mahrez couldnt be as effective without the interventions and surety of Kante...his ability to break up play and release Vardy and Mahrez (high up the field) was essential to Leicester winning the title. I would think the rise and fall of Leicester and the rise of Chelsea, with addition of Kante, might debunk your argument slightly.

On this note, the last time Everton won anything, in 1995, the MOTM was Dave Watson and in my opinion the most edge of the seat moments in that game came from Southall blocking scholes, Butt and McClair.
GKs and outfield players are different beasts.

There was no great players in that Everton team.

If your idea of a great player is someone like Kante then that's your definition. Im pretty sure when most people talk about the great players of the game they don't automatically reach for names like his or Gattuso or Cambiasso.

They're necessary players to have. Personally I'd never attribute the word great to any player who's primary function is to destroy opposition moves.

I applaud you for having your own opinions, but you are clearly in the minority on this one.

Last great in your opinion to play for Everton? (If you say Deulofeu we're falling out)
Rooney was a great player. And we have a potentially great player now in the shape of Barkley...though I dont see his creative side developing under koeman and he'd have to wait him out here or go elsewhere to fulfil that potential.

Mate, Baresi and Maldini were absolute geniuses. Artists.
