Ah it’s beautiful looking. Were you nockin about when the grunge scene exploded?

Yes mate. Actually briefly talked with Chris Cornell and Kim Thayill from Soundgarden one night. Kim was keen on finding our opinion on a band that we'd just seen at the Croc. You know those deafening band rooms just kinda numb your eardrums. My brother said "what" like three times in a row to a simple question on whether or not he rated the crap we'd just seen. Fk it man, forget it was the end of the convo.

Anyone who says U2 needs one as well :p

But at least we can agree on Artic Monkeys.

And practically all the bands from those early years of this century.

Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand etc.

Guitar rock’s last stand was pretty underwhelming if you ask me.

Arctic Monkeys are arguably underrated. Every album they change and are still fantastic. U2 have one sound and its crap.

Something to do with Serj and Daron I think.

Still, I'd rather them do nothing if the standard isnt upto the rest of their discography which, for the most part, is flawless.
If Mesmerise and Hypnotise had been one album you'd be talking about greatest metal album ever by an absolute distance. Too much Daron though - Serj is an almighty singer but he must also be a really nice fella, letting his mate sing and write songs like that.

Like we're 5-0 up lads, let's stick the fat lad on at left back, can't do any harm. Maybe that's the cause of the difficulties.

That was an NME review if I remember rightly. Awful band. A lot of folk talk about that britpop era as some sort of high point in British music. In reality, it was just clever marketing and all sorts of pub standard dross was getting pushed out. Likes of dodgy, suede, James, the bluetones, menswear ffs lol lol Think some Pulp, some blur stuff and maybe some supergrass are the only half decent things to come out of that era. Even then they had lots of dink songs. I do get a sense of nostalgia when I hear oasis but still think they’re gash rip off merchants. Much better stuff was coming from the states with perhaps the exception of Bush.
There was a lot of good musi coming from Chemikal underground during the later 90s mind you. Mogwai and Arab strap etc. If that’s your thing.
I saw my fair share of indie bands and Shed7 were by far the best to be honest. Didn't take themselves too seriously and the guitar player can play like Jimmy Page.

You're under selling Daron there, he has some brilliant songs on there and the whole Serj/Daron dynamic is part of what makes SOAD great and them the 2nd best tag team vocal partnership. The best is Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell.

Not a massive AIC fan, but Layne Staley was an unbelievable singer. Their "Unplugged" session was one of the best. Made it look effortless. Although maybe that was the smack, to be fair.
