Basil Fawlty
Player Valuation: £35m
Utd didn't pay upfront for Nani and Anderson, they did a deal like the 1 we're wanting so i shouldn't see it as a problem

Reading the Sky Sports article on Moutinho, it all sounds a bit negative and desperate. Seems like we want to pay on the never never, with a tenner up front, and the rest to be paid in baked beans over a 50 yr period, or when we win the title.
The patent lack of cash is a bit worrying, as we are virtually out of midfielders for the start of the season. In all honesty we only have 3 worthwhile midfielders likely to be available for the first game (Osman, Arteta, Pieman) and Rodwell, VDM and maybe Gosling as back up. (I just cannot contemplate starting with Pip. It would all be too horrible! )
I'm hoping there's a few rabbits in the hat, and if Moutinho did happen to be one of them (and Manny!) I'd feel a lot better about next season.
Don't see it happening.
Specially with that mambo jambo structured deal crap.
Why not?
Who will he go to then? Chelsea aren't interested any more.
Why is he obliged to leave?
Just watched Sporting's chairman on tv, in an interview prior to the match against Sunderland, and he said there isn't any offer for Moutinho or for Veloso.
Sporting aren't willing to sell and so they'll keep their path in Portugal for the next season.
Besides, Veloso wants to leave but Moutinho hasn't showed any real will for a move.
Only a crazy offer will make Sporting sell.
Fair enough.
I'd be suprised if he stayed in Portugal for another year. I'd have thought he'd be looking to move to a bigger League but that his loyalty for ya probably.
Shame really as I'd like to see him here. We'll stick with Fernandes then.
He's a smart kid. He's only 21 and he'll have CL football this season. And he has the chance to consolidate his place in the national team.
So, staying this season, will improve his chances of a move to a big club.
He's still in his learning curve and he's aware of that. He's humble enough to keep working and waiting for a break.
Wouldnt be so disheartened mate, 20 mill Euro is a lot of money for a Portugese outfit, i imagine they accept at a certain point he will leave, i dont think Sporting care who he goes to, once the money is right. If our bid is what they are looking for it will be accepted and with is buddy Manny here next season, a former team mate in the loan keeper, and nuno the portugese legend, it could well be us.
Its unlikely that his profile will be as high again as this summer following a major championship, so sporting could be prepared to let him leave, certainly bully seems pretty confident if his comments are true, and surely there is an open dialouge already after signing the loan serbian keeper.
I'll let you in another detail. In Moutinho's contract there is a clause that forces the club to pay him 10% of a refused offer over 15M euros.
There was a release clause of 25M euros, that was to be activated in a certain period that has ended.
Sporting's board came to public to state that they were in conditions to meet the compensation because they weren't interested in selling. That says a lot about the intention of the club.
The WC is in 2 years time and the kid will be 23. I think it is a pretty good age to be a first choice for the national team.
The club is betting all their chips in recapturing the national championship and to look good in the CL.
Money is not a real issue, right now.
Imagine that Sporting reaches the Quarter finals of the CL, which is possible, and Moutinho will be held in as much regard as this summer.
Really I don't think we'll sign him for now.
