Right Enough is Enough after today's debacle I'm writing this in the hope that someone points Moyesie or his much maligned sidekick Roundy towards this thread!!

After another toothless display in the final third (yes Timmy even you for missing a gilt edged chance at 1nil) one thing that struck me was how unbalanced we looked. Yes we had a lot of the ball and yes at times played some nice football but how long can we hide behind the same excuses ? We have heard from the Wolves game (2nd of the campaign) that IF we had taken our chances , or we just need someone to put the ball in the net, we dominated that game but couldn't score !! This has happened on far too many occasions already this season for it to be a hard luck story.

Moyesie appears to be running out of ideas as how to correct the problem. On the face of things it looks pretty bad , we have won just 4 out of 20 matches which sounds horrendous. On the other hand we've only lost 6 out of 20, sounds ok. We've lost 8 out of 44 matches in the Premier League (might be 43) and only lost 5 AWAY games in 2010. That's the problem with stats , you can make them read however you want them too but one stat we can't manipulate is the goal stats, we simply don't score enough (stating the obvious I know but still).

Now we all have our theories, not attacking enough, no pace in the team, only play one striker, tactically naive etc but something has to change before we are nervously trying to accumulate 40 points before May. Yes things may change yes we may end up in the scrap for Europa League but at this moment in time it doesn't look like it will anytime soon. Yak is about to leave which makes our need for a striker even more desperate and Timmy away as well ??

Now this is where I thought I'd help Moyesie and Roundy out. They are obviously devoid of any fresh ideas and hate the prospect of having TWO strikers on the pitch because we can't play with only 4 midfielders so here is what I propose.......

3-5-2 ....lining up like this ...

>>>>>>Howard>>>>>>> >>>>
>>>>>Jagielka>>>>>Neville>>>>>>>Distin>>>>>>>>

>>>>>Coleman>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Baines>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fellaini>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>Arteta>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pienaar>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Beckford>>>>>>>>Saha>>>>>>>

Subs:
Rodwell, Osman,Bily,Victor,Hibbo,Heitinga,Mucha

That line up based on Yak being sold and Timmy being in Oz....

It would give us 2 strikers on the pitch, our 2 wingbacks are perfect for the role and allows us to have enough players in the middle of the park.I think it would allow us to be attacking without leaving us short at the back. The line up can be tinkered with but I certainly think its one we need to look at instead of being crippled by a 451 negative formation...

Discuss ...

Can't say I agree with that line up sorry! Neville centre half?

A 4-4-2 would do us, and it's glaringly obvious too.

I think you have a friend that can pass this on to moyes dont you? I think that formation is brilliant mate.

I run a similar formation on FIFA.. I love the 3-5-2 (Never happen though) I would say replace Nev with Rodders (Sweeper)

Fairly good shout right there.

I personally wouldn't fancy the 3-5-2. When we're on the back foot, we'd be swamped. We'd have a back line of five dropping deep, and only Fellaini in the hole to break up attacks. It'd be fairly easy to bypass Arteta and Pienaar who aren't exactly the most disciplined in defensive work.

So for me, 4-4-2. Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines. Coleman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Pienaar. Saha, Beckford (given Yak is going.) Rodwell and Fellaini are both true box to box'ers and can take turns dropping off and pushing on, as they have done before Arteta came back in and shagged the balance up completely.

I like the 4-4-2 as well..
The beautiful thing about the 3-5-2 and specifically the starting XI is that it can transform to a more balanced formation(442) at the drop of a hat.

I'd swap Nev and Jags, and Saha for Anichebe. Otherwise I dig that.

I'd also maybe have Bily in for Pienaar, as the latter's got to be off soon, and I want to see Bily get game time.

All those saying Heitinga should be a part... well, I'll be sick if that genuine snide ever puts on the royal blue again. I hope we've seen the last of him.

You could play Heitinga there but I think Neville could sweep up !

Distin would be better suited overall. Having Neville in there would result in Hibbert-esque calamity centre-half work like we saw at West Ham ;) Rodwell is a class act too.

It can do but it relies on us having a Beckenbauer stepping up to midfield at various points in the game. I guess Rodwell could do that but my instinct is that the OP's formation is a bit too old fashioned to work today.

I love tactics in football and I've studied 'em for years. There's an awesome book on the subject but the title eludes me at the moment.

If you remember the title shout it out, would love to have a look myself.
