I've always though that Kenwright is holding out for someone with integrity and suitably deep pockets, rather than the first fly-by-night that came along. I'm waivering a bit really. This season aside, we've been in the second tier of clubs with Spurs, Villa and City. We've beaten all the big guns and played some attractive football. It wasn't so long ago that we were seriously bidding for Moutinho. Would that have been borrowed funds? Has our line of credit been cut?
Why isn't Moyes saying 'we need to sell before we can buy'? Why is he instead saying that 'we can't afford to buy'? Are we going to sell people and not reinvest in the team? Why did Baines reject Bayern's overtures, but not the club? Moyes talks about keeping hold of our best players, but we're allowing Pienaar and Anichebe to walk for nothing. It does sound to me that we're not too far from imploding.
For me there is a fine line between integrity and standing still ! That buyer with deep pockets may never come but one with good financial sense may have already been and gone ! All I'm saying is that in my opinion we are now slipping backwards not just standing still !! I could be the Chairman of Everton ! I mean I love the club , I've got no money to put in but I love the club !! It's a bit of a boring tag line now though isn't it ??!
