Moving to Liverpool

Halewood is a weird one, as on one side you’re really close to Woolton and Huntscross, so close to loads of stuff and then the other side is nearer to Widnes and there‘s not really much there - one pub and a few shops. Plus it won’t be long before every green bit of Halewood will be built on, so there’ll be nothing left of the countryside bit, which is why a lot of people moved there in the first place !
Haha, that goes for everywhere there's a bit of green!

I'm moving on my own so somewhere that's 20/25 mins from the city centre max would be great

It's just like the one in London.

Agreed.

So, personal circumstances have led me to have to have to look at getting my own place (currently still living with ex, house is going up for sale soon).

I’m currently living just south of Norwich and have always wanted to get out of the area and move north so this could be a blessing in disguise.

As a 24 year old single male, would you recommend moving to a Liverpool, or a city fairly nearby?

It’s a bit of a broad post… but I’d love to hear any thoughts and opinions on the areas to look at buying a property (looks like a shared ownership mortgage is the best option), if jobs are easier to come by in certain places, how you find the cost of living there and any other information you feel would be helpful.

South Liverpool is a bit Tory.
Either move to Calderstones or stay away from the place. Was born and brought up in the city but due to my Dad taking me to mid-Wales fishing as a kid, could not wait to leave. Nothing against Liverpool (other than RS) but rural or semi-rural life is so much better. Owls on your roof, Badgers in your village and Deer roaming the woods. Teenagers locked in your trailer....oops

If you’re looking to buy I think you’ll get better value here in Liverpool mate. Manchester is half an hour on a direct train or a 30/40 minute drive if the traffic is alright. Both are cracking cities. Around Aigburth in Liverpool is good because there’s a lot going on here, you don’t have to go into town for a good night out. For me the draw here is Sefton Park, bands play it, BBQs in the park in the summer, food and drink festivals. Not many places you’ll live in your life will have a park like it so close to its centre and it’s walking distance from this part of the city. Good luck whatever you decide pal, starting again is hard and I admire you for taking the plunge to a new city
Great area. Memorable as it is the only place I have been attacked without provocation by a group of around 14 teenagers. Thank goodness a car alarm alerted the neighbours.

Sad that mate (great name by the way). I’m from Huyton originally, grew up on the paramount estate which was always alright. I moved into my nans after she passed away on St John’s and moved out when the house facing mine got shot at. Funnily enough 2 of my mates I grew up with on the paramount saved a jogger in a similar situation, he got jumped by a big group of teenagers. They never heard about how the jogger got on. Years later one of them was in a taxi and the driver was the jogger he’d saved. Even in nice areas you can still be living next to anyone and you don’t know who’s going to come for them in the middle of the night

If you move here, make sure you are tooled up when you leave the house, its the dangerous dog attack capital of the UK, the latest being right in the shadow of our ground in Goodison Road.
