Moving to Liverpool

If you are serious about coming down here rent first and make your own mind up.
At 24 you will want to be central I suppose , there are good local train and bus routes to a lot of areas .
Not sure of the rental market but would definitely rent first.
Seems to be a lot of southerners moving down here lately.
House prices are not bad.
Yeah that’s not a bad shout, will have to see what renting is like money wise, would need to save up I’m sure but I’ll have a half decent wedge when I sell my current house for a deposit

My advice would be to rent a place just off Lark Lane ( Sefton Park ). Some great restaurants and bars and 5 minutes into the city centre.
If you like the area then look to buy somewhere
Unless I've missed it you haven't said where you are working which I would imagine is critical to you decision

So, personal circumstances have led me to have to have to look at getting my own place (currently still living with ex, house is going up for sale soon).

I’m currently living just south of Norwich and have always wanted to get out of the area and move north so this could be a blessing in disguise.

As a 24 year old single male, would you recommend moving to a Liverpool, or a city fairly nearby?

It’s a bit of a broad post… but I’d love to hear any thoughts and opinions on the areas to look at buying a property (looks like a shared ownership mortgage is the best option), if jobs are easier to come by in certain places, how you find the cost of living there and any other information you feel would be helpful.
Im from maghull originally, but also lived in Aintree, town, Aigburth, huyton and now Knowsley village - If you're single and 24 id opt for town or Aigburth if you can afford it - more going on in south liverpool, sefton park, lark lane, allerton road etc, Aigburth expensive though.

So might be worth buying a nice apartment in the city centre - handy for bramley moore too!

Thanks mate. I'll keep looking, got a few months (at least) I would imagine so gives me plenty of time to find a property in the right area

My experience of Huyton is better than halewood.

They’re not great, but depends on where you get tbh.

The prices of the houses there are so cheap it’s worth giving what you find a look and checking out the area.
Like so much of liverpool it really does depend on where you are doesn’t it ? It’s a city that within districts you’ll get really distinct areas .

Found a decent property in Halewood, but seems very mixed reviews online, and is apparently a bit too far from everywhere- which wouldn't be ideal as I'm moving alone. So that's a no. Huyton doesn't seem to appealing either after looking a bit more!

Both have an “old part “, both have new executive style estates and both have old school ex council style estates.

The bad parts of Huyton are way worse than the bad parts of Halewood though.
Yeah, the place I saw in Halewood was on a new estate I think. Looks a bit too far out from everything for me though

Halewood is a weird one, as on one side you’re really close to Woolton and Huntscross, so close to loads of stuff and then the other side is nearer to Widnes and there‘s not really much there - one pub and a few shops. Plus it won’t be long before every green bit of Halewood will be built on, so there’ll be nothing left of the countryside bit, which is why a lot of people moved there in the first place !
