He's very similar to Mikel Arteta in terms of style, a deep lying playmaker with excellent technique, great agility and intelligence. I could easily see him playing out wide given his skills, more so than players like Moutinho and Defour who are more about ‘running’ and ‘passing’.
What’s very clear even judging by that YouTube video is he’s nowhere near as mature as Mikel, you wouldn’t see Arteta trying to skin opposition players on the edge of his box, it just wouldn’t happen. Banega, like Manuel Fernandes, has a tendency to overplay and that needs to stop, it’ll have too if he wants to succeed at the highest level.
The tools are there though, he has fantastic ability and there’s something for Moyes to work with. If he had fulfilled his potential he’d be well out of our range, I’d love to see this one come off.
