Moyes gives it straight - we can't compete with the big spenders

Its the lack of quality cover that shits me up. We have sold more than we have bought in the last 12 months- that is scarey!

I agree with Suits Kilbane did us proud with what he could do- good luck to him we have moved up a gear from him now though. All players we should sign should be pushing for the starting 11- I dont believe there is such a thing as a 'squad' player anymore especially with a team like ours that hopefully should be playing 50+ games this season. We need players that can come in and do as good a job as who they are replacing.

Time for some bashing? Although I believe our funds are limited, I don't think that should be the excuse for the lack of signings. It's just bull shitting lazy excuse for everything. If we can't pay 6million for nugent that's fine with me. If we can't afford fernandes I've got no complains too.
But when I see teams like Blackburn signing Maceo Rigters for half a million, and Birmingham capture of Daniel de Ridder for free, it just makes me fume when I read moyes comment.

its a case of cash though mick, i think its possible that moyes might make another johnson sized signing, but we are hearing nothing because it would put the cat amongst the pidgeons - and when unscrupulous agents sense a quick buck (greed remember) they try to engineer an auction.

I hope you're right, I really do.

Assuming the first eleven looks something like Howard; Neville/Jagielka, Yobo, Lescott, Valente; Neville/Jagielka, Cahill, Arteta, VDM/Osman/AN Other; Johnson, Vaughan/Anichebe/Beattie

Are we looking to strengthen that first 11 or add squad players?

Assuming arteta and cahill are both injured, who do we rely on creating chances? Neville?

Like I have said elsewhere. Look for some major players AFTER January when we can reassess how many competitions we are still in and how many players we need (due to injuries, games left etc). Till then. get the left sorted and I will be a happy bunny.

Oh the famous january quote.
"All teams are reluctant to sell at this period of time and or we may end up paying more."

Sorry mates, guess my bubble finally burst today. Bear with me!

You are all for the most part still speculating that the club will bring in new players like Richardson, I do not think this will happen. Moyes IMO is trying politely to say there will be no more signings so to keep karping on about players is rather silly.

We will be going with what we have.

The spending in the Prem this week has been unbelivable, as frustrating as it is to see almost all the other sides splashing the cash this week, we have to have faith in Moyes that he has our long term stability at heart, he wont pay over the odds or be held to ransom, whatever money we have he will use it wisely.

CT, love you guy. I'll be waiting and if we do sign some players I shall recprocate but mind we are not talking of kids.

Nugent would have been nice, but we cant dwell on that. There are other players out there who are reasonably priced and can do a very very good job. Im a big fan of Colins John.

Richardson would be a decent buy, he was very effective at West Brom and although we are aiming significantly higher than WBA, he wouldnt have the pressure of playing as a bit part player at United pushing to win every game with extreme pressure, the pressure is slightly less at EFC.

As for the left back I would probably utilise our loan options and maybe look at the young land traore from Arsenal or look overseas (although thats not our style). Quedrue would also satisfy our need imo
