I tend to agree that the fairly overwhelming public support for Pereira (I never thought we as fans would have such a consensus on a hire but it seems pretty solid) could make some difference to BK. If he hires Pereira and misses he gets no real blame (aside from continued blame for all the other stuff people blame him for but he'd be somewhat off the hook on this hire). If he goes internal (or with a relegated manager) and it doesn't work then everyone will be in with the "I told you so."
We should "reach" now with the hire because NOW is the only time we can. If we go safe now and then need another new manager in 2-3 years we won't be fresh off our current manager moving to Man U, a sixth place finish and (maybe) some cash on hand for signings for once. We *might* be able to attract someone like Pereira now but if we go with a boring choice like Martinez or internal we won't even have the option of a Pereira type next time.
I know people are (mostly) joking but to say "I'll be a ____ fan instead if we appoint ____" is pretty silly.
Martinez ending up at Stoke after Whelan's comments would just be utterly perfect.
I would bet actual money on Stoke being relegated if they hire Martinez. Horrible fit for that team.
Pereira obviously. Koff Martinez.
The casual confidence people have in linking us to stories in Portuguese as if we can all read that ... eleven languages me.
The mild disappointment I feel when said link goes to a real story (I assume) in a foreign language rather than a picture of animals making sweet love.
He now favourite cos everton fans have been betting all morning
You know how people say "the Gwladys Street End sucked the goal in" ... we're using betting to try to suck Pereira in (or off?)
The biggest criticism in football is being called a good professional because it basically means your ****e.
Fairly sure "we've sold you to East Fife for one thousand pounds" is a bigger criticism.
Or "we tried to sell you to East Fife for one thousand pounds and they laughed so we're terminating your contract."
Or worst of all ... "it says here you are currently employed as a professional footballer for Stoke."
