Heard his interview today......Rowbertaw is one of the top 6 managers in the world apparently.

The best in Europe.

It's not Martinez's fault, but he is building him up for a massive fall.

yeah I heard all that, he changed from one of the top six in Europe to one of the top six in the world and the best in Europe

makes me think less of Whelan, doesn't make me think any less of Martinez

I'm not sure I want him as our boss though

im getting a little nervous seeing pips name thrown around...only because bill would be cheeky enought o hire him and pip would be cheeky enough to take the job

True, but if that was the case, Whelan wouldn't be bleating so much about having had no contact from anyone. He'd be blabbing like he did last year, when Liverpool made their approach and Martinez was pictured with John Henry in the U.S.

Yeah agreed. If he decides that he is going then he has only one option - resign immediately.

whats with all this craze about vitor perreira? A manager should get credit for performing above expectations. To win the league with Porto is minimum requirement. Your in a two horse race in that league and he only just won it on the last day. Does that really make him a great manager? You could put my nan in charge of Porto next season and they would still guarantee to finish second. A manager should be judged on expectations of the club their at rather than trophies won.

Because again you could put a goat in charge of Celtic next season and they would still win everything because of the quality they are up against and porto is the same. If this Periera bloke won the league and all cups and a european trophy then i would give him credit but hes done F all really. I dont see this as a good appointment. Everton is a totally different kind of challenge than Porto. We need someone with premier league experience.

Martinez i believe has managed well above expectations. He has lost his best players every year. Somehow kept his team up so many times, plays attractive football and won a FA cup with Wigan. Thats achievement. Winning anything with Porto is just a minimum requirement at a club like that.

Surely people can see my logic

It's not just about expectation. I'm drawn to him due to him not losing a game in two bloody years. I wouldn't mind Martinez if it come to it but For him it would be a step up in quality of players, would he know how to manage them? Pereira has experience with bigger players. From what I've heard people say as well it sounds like he plays the same attractive, build up football as well as a good defensive record shown from being unbeaten. Pereira has proven himself to an extent, Martinez has not proven with quality players yet and that could be a risk, especially when we are on the cusp of CL football and really need another big push next season.

Surely if he is going to be appointed manager they would do it right now...

Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow if anything, I'm off to bed anyway, Hopefully I wake up and DAVIDMOYES posts on here

He'll get a coaching role or the assistant manager role but I think Round will stay and SOME of the backroom staff will follow Moyes.

Interesting day ahead tomorrow, both Pereira and Martinez will decide their futures with their current clubs Porto and Wigan.

Night (y)

The difference with Pereira and Martinez is that Pereira's Porto contract ends on June 30th, 2013 - the same day Moyes contract ends with us. If Pereira agreed to come to EFC and EFC wanted him, he wouldn't officially start until July 1st (like Moyes at Utd), unless EFC paid compensation to immediately get him out of his Porto's contract. That would seem a needless waste of money though, given he'd be coming (same as Utd not paying compo for Moyes to us).

Martinez is different, as he has another year left on his contract (his deal expires June 30th, 2014), and unless he resigns, we would need to make an approach and agree compensation for the last year of his deal.

If I come out of my IT exam tomorrow to that f*cking badge I will flip ****. Guess were most likely going to find out our new manager tomorrow, for our sake, lets hope its the right one. Goodnight lads.

For the first time I think Pereira might actually be a chance. I actually don't think it will be Martinez now, I think he will go to Stoke.

It seems like it's Pereira or internal, and given that there has been contact between both parties for months and, if you believe the Portugese reports, this contact has led to a deal of sorts, I would be very surprised if the club backed out on that for Phil Neville. Note that the only thing Everton have confirmed or denied about Pereira is that they haven't offered him a two year deal at this point. That's a great sign I reckon, they had the chance to nip the whole thing then and there and quash our expectations and they didn't.
