We'll hardly score a run, and have no chance of getting the likes of Cook or Root out. Still, I'll be up to all hours watching, just like I do when Everton play like arse.

But yes, where's Vitor ffs?

He's been playing Fifa 13 and Football Manager non-stop since last Monday. He'll be playing champion in 2016-2017 by now, I reckon.

GET VITOR IN

Where's the evidence that the club is looking at ANYBODY?

Where's the approach for Martinez?

Where's the official club statement saying Weir, Stubbs, Neville and Ferguson have all been interviewed already?

It's all 'a journalist says', every last bit of it, no matter what option you believe is likely. Which is why the intelligent people on this board read between the lines. That's what you always have to do with Everton. If you took everything at face value until Everton actually announced it, well.... you'd just be sitting their clapping Kenwright.

The club are sly. They use their influence. Just as one example, remember that Echo article by the RS James Pearce a few weeks ago after the derby, taking the piss? Well for the next home game vs West Ham, the club revoked the reserved seats for Greg O'Keeffe, Dave Prentice and John Thompson. They were banned from the press box. Thompson had to scurry around to Bullens Road to get 3 tickets before the match sold out. That's the relationship between Everton and the Echo. The Echo doesn't fart unless the club says so, fearful of repercussions.

That is why I brought up the Echo covering Pereira but none of the other external candidates. I'm not even saying he's a cert or anything, just that's its a good indication he might be in the club's thoughts.
That's fair enough saying my pov is based on the same level of hard info as others are using. But I do acknowledge that it is just a pov and not an established fact. Also, on the internals, I'm led to believe from people who know more than me about the inner workings of this club that internal candidates have definitely at least been interviewed - which backs up the local hacks claims. Not so any external interest.

I just can't see it being an internal. Or have all the facts and deadlines etc. been a total coincidence?

Don't know why but just feel it's Pereira for the job... Think Martinez is fall back option and I agree with posts on here think looking at the odds is no indication.hopefully we will know come Tuesday!!

It's all about mentality. The fans want Vitor Pereira, he's a proven winner. If we appoint a no-mark or an inexperienced manager in the Malky Mackay ilk it's only going to rub off on people from top to bottom, from the staff to the fans (that stagnation and mid-table-ism) is the holy grail.

Why not take a slight risk, bring in a winner with a different approach, with a new philosophy. I'm completely drained from kopites consistently telling me 'we cannot afford Pereira' 'you will go for a Stubbs, or a 'Pullis type'. I'm sick to death of the negativity that surrounds this club, how can we ever achieve anything again, or win something if we never take risks or change our way of thinking.

The fan's need a manager who has experienced success, this can only be a positive factor that can influence and inspire the squad and the younger players. If your happy to sit mid-table and grow old with a safe bet, I'm ashamed to sit next to you. Put sentiment aside for a second, we have a very good squad, but when you look back at the history books we have won D**k all in the past 11 years with Moyes, so if you want more of the same an internal appointment of a Malky or a Neville will suit you and Bill down to the ground.

Great post fella

I'm quite sure they've been spoken to. Whether it's for the main job or a coaching role, who knows. Again, the wording in that Echo report of that was very very careful to to not mention once that they'd been interviewed for the actual job.

I'm like anyone, I just think if appointing someone internally was what they had their hearts set on, you would have thought they'd have done it straight away. It's easy.

Unless of course Moyes has first dabs on the coaching staff, and we're not going to offer the EFC managers job to anyone until the great David Moyes decides whether he wants to rescue them from the 'drudgery of Everton life' and take them to 'the promised land of the world's bestest club, Man Utd'.:P

All joking aside, the longer this drags on, I think it's less and less likely it will be an internal appointment. It's June next Saturday; certain managers contracts expire at the end of June (Pereira) and won't require any compo. We'll know more this time next week, one way or another.

Yes, that's true enough, it was vague in that respect.

I don't think they could for the reasons hinted at: they cant just be seen to rubber stamp a completely inexperienced man without giving the impression first that others outside the club have been tried for (and also a later announcement allows the idea for an internal candidate to take root and be presented to fans as a positive by the board's friends in the media).

We don't have to pay compo for Pereira, he free to speak to who he wants. Just like Moyes was.

Are you sure this is true, the Echo wrote an article denying they were in the club back pockets.

Davek, I really don't reckon any internal candidate except ferguson would meet with approval from the fans - and even he would be met with concern. With a general meeting on the horizon, a new badge apparently coming in and Moyes having just left (with possibly Fellaini off too) that's a lot of heat for Kenwright to deflect - an internal appointment would exacerbate even further.

For me, I'm stunned they haven't offered it to Pereria straight away. He seems to be the popular choice with the fans, and if it went wrong Kenwright could fall back on "I listened to fans and heart rather than my head" etcetera. Martinez is doomsday for me but he is largely mixed amongst Blues. Stubbs and Weir really are absolute no-nos amongst the majority by the looks of things.

Saying somebody was looking at houses in Formby without a shred of evidence is enough to come across as posting 'facts', imo. People browsing this site don't connect the usernames of every poster, they will pick up stuff from here and then post it on other places.

It's the same reason why jarg transfer rumours aren't allowed, because people go to Twitter or Facebook and say 'Just seen that Paddy Kenny is joining us on a seven year deal on Grandoldteam'. It makes the forum look stupid.

Come on fellas......this is heading Kipper direction....petty squabbling and forming of cliques is what makes a forum look stupid. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, whatever it is, and as long as there's no swearing/threatening. All of you are cracking posters so kiss, make up, Mods unban Mike and let's get on with debating Pereira, Martinez or an internal appointment.

Bit too simples.
