Nope, not at all. Simply Pointed out his iffy record on managerial appointments.

I see Phenom and The Site's Worst Poster were both involved in getting ToffeeMike banned. Not a huge surprise that always wrong Brennan happened to be involved.

"Bore Off" Brennan... Although its your default state of being

Hold up....Why was ToffeeMike Banned?.....Enlighten me Brennan

Manager Michael Laudrup insists he wants to stay at Swansea

He just officially ruled himself out

we new we couldnt afford the compo anyway

He's probably looking to go to La Liga in a few years anyway. He's on the radar of Real, with him being a former player and all.

If it makes the slightest bit of difference lads, I'd like to offer my thoughts on the latest goings on. This might go on a bit, so I apologise in advance!

Firstly, I do think Pereira is right up there with a chance at the job. The talk of pre-contracts is 99% BS - whats probably happened is that there was contact between the 2 a couple of months ago to feel VP out and see what he thought about the prospect of the Efc job. Hearing that he was potentially interested now that it was clear his contract would probably not be renewed, BK probably said that in that case crack on with trying to win the league blah blah blah, i'll be back once the season is over to talk more.

The only thing that bothers me in this scenario is why VP? What would make BK and even DM for that matter identify Pereira as a possible replacement? Did DM know of him and recommended him?

Despite that missing piece, I do think that VP had discussion last week and the job was outlined for him and the conditions formalised. Now that he's got those, he's asked for the weekend to talk it over with his nearest and dearest, after all these decisions don't make themselves overnight. So that would be fair enough.

Now for Martinez. I should point out from the start here that I think he will stay at wigan. If he's such a 'lovely bloke' and all the rest of it, why on earth would he abandon ship? And I seriously don't think he would be offered it anyway. The FA Cup win has clouded people's opinions on him but the fact is his record is poorer than some of the previous managers there. So why would he get the EFC job? If you crash a Mondeo or whatever, you wouldn't expect to get given keys to an Audi or BMW do you? (No offence to mondeo owners out there, but you get my point). The latest discussion him and whelan had was that RM wanted assurances that there would be more emphasis on the youth development and scouting network, which is perfectly acceptable. The 'lovely bloke' is most likely trying to right the wrong of last season and try to change Wigans emphasis so that they can better sustain there PL survival once they return. Him and Whelan are practically best buds, so I just don't see him leaving or thinking 'I'd better leave now because I can't be arsed with Championship'. He's obviously a man of reputation, and he would be seriously jeopardising that legacy if he became the man who left his troops high and dry.

As for the internals, I like something someone posted about it which was to suggest these 'interviews' were more to see if they would stick around if VP took the job etc. BK probably informed them about these advanced talks and wanted to gauge whether they supported him or not.

A quick note on the redknapps and mackays etc - thats rubbish in my opinion. This is classic betting exchange tactics, and people are trying to use this very liquid market to make a guaranteed buck or 2. There has been weeks and weeks of talk and rumour of VP from both here and in Portugal to more than suggest that there must be some truth to it. These other clowns are coming out of thin air, so I dont offer them any credence in all honesty.

So that's how I see it. VP is well in with a shout, and the only way RM is appointed is if Pereira says no and sticks with Porto. Entirely possible. Martinez would be the best of a bad bunch in that case, and if Whelan starts demanding a large compensation package then Weir/Stubbs gets it. Probably another reason these internals had interviews. ''We're gonna be blunt with you, we want VP but if it all goes tits up can we count on you?''. These guys are blue through and through so I'm certain they would step up if needs be. Money talks, and BK won't pay Wigan large amounts on what is essentially a gamble if he has a free gamble in house.

Anyway, just my thoughts guys.

Davek, I really don't reckon any internal candidate except ferguson would meet with approval from the fans - and even he would be met with concern. With a general meeting on the horizon, a new badge apparently coming in and Moyes having just left (with possibly Fellaini off too) that's a lot of heat for Kenwright to deflect - an internal appointment would exacerbate even further.

For me, I'm stunned they haven't offered it to Pereria straight away. He seems to be the popular choice with the fans, and if it went wrong Kenwright could fall back on "I listened to fans and heart rather than my head" etcetera. Martinez is doomsday for me but he is largely mixed amongst Blues. Stubbs and Weir really are absolute no-nos amongst the majority by the looks of things.
Anyone who met Duncan being appointed with any sort of approval, concerned or otherwise, needs to take a long hard look at themselves.

I think I can sum up my thoughts on the whole process a little quicker than that: until such time as Billy Liar and his carpetbagging mates are swept out of the club you can expect the cheapest solution to all outstanding issues. In this instance it means employing an in-house yes man who'll be grateful for the job. All the other 'possibilities' are pure fantasy.
