Wonder where Marcotti got this snippet of gossip from ?
Given that Davek has let it be known that Weir turned the job down.
Hmm the mind boggles,Information gleaned from posters on here perhaps ?
You've gotta laugh, who's going to report it next Brian Reade ?
No substance to either rumour I reckon.

Check out today's mirror lads,ok wrong journo but the story line is the same.(was expecting Bascombe or reade)

On top of the list and considered to be the favorite choice is Porto’s Vitor Pereira. Speculation has surfaced of a verbal agreement between the 44-year-old manager and Everton’s board. The Purtoguese manager is said to be offered a 2-year contract but this has not been confirmed by both parties. Pereira’s contract with Porto is ending by the end of June, just in time for Premier League’s pre-season. This also means the club will not be paying Porto any compensation for the manager, making him free to join any club at the end of the season.

This would make sense, pay no compo.

As with everything though, paper talk is paper talk.

...I'm really nervous about the Periera hype. He did nothing before he joined Porto as AVB assistent and subsequently inherited a really good side. Before that he had been sacked with 10 games of the season left managing SC Espinho in the depths of the Portugese 3rd division. After that he managed CD Santas Clara without distinction in the 2nd tier before leaving the manager's job to become an assistant.
He might be tanned, he might be handsome, he might wear an armband and look classy but he's a real gamble. I remember Mike Walker having single club success at Norwich. There was a clamour to get him into Goodison and he liked to think he had a bit of style with his shirt collars turned up before Cantona made it famous. Bottom line is Walker was hopeless and os might Vitor. A bit of proportionality please.

I predict today we will see:

- davek have a meltdown as he drowns in a pool of his own cynicism.

- Alan Irvine get his turn to be the new surprise favourite for the Everton job.

- A devoted portion of posters remain vigilant in fighting the optimistic fight, confident that we are only hours away from the glorious Pereira era.

- 95% of Everton fans value the new badge over the new manager.

- Nothing of any substance actually happening.

- Alan Irvine get his turn to be the new surprise favourite for the Everton job. I think Bilic

- A devoted portion of posters remain vigilant in fighting the optimistic fight, confident that we are only hours away from the glorious Pereira era. Count me in, I'm one.

- 95% of Everton fans value the new badge over the new manager. Nope

- Nothing of any substance actually happening. Agree

Is Right.

I guy told us yesterday it will be Solskjaer. Says his mate works at Everton and he has seen a contract with his name on. This is what a rumour will do to a person.

All together now.....Ha Ha Ha Ha

Also, Eggs will tell us for the fifty seventh time that he thinks Pereira is a rubbish manager.

...apologies Matey, I didn't realise anybody had noticed. I don't know if he's good or rubbish but I think he's more of a risk than others. I'll shut up now. By the way, in the pub yesterday somebody mentioned that Bilic was interviewed last week. Another rumour to add to the list.
