Why would Kenwright employ anyone BUT a 'yes' man. People who aren't 'yes men' don't last long in a job anyway.

I'm gunna give Martinez all my backing but i don't want him to waste our money on callum mcmanaman or mccarthy, better players out there, for less.

Do like McManaman tho, he one tricky customer but could be over-valued right now tho.

Lads have some faith in your fellow Evertonians to do the right thing. A lot of posts questioning how we'll react but if you actually READ this thread then guess what? We are some great fans and we'll do the right thing. Believe ...

Whoever gets the job, we need to get behind them.
it's going to be Martinez now. Best of a bad bunch really ... Lets just get behind him if he's confirmed.
Just got to get behind him now really.
This. Hardly be overjoyed but at least he's a nice guy and is a foreigner like lots of us wanted.
Don't know why everyone is getting so annoyed about it tbh.
Give him time ffs lads
If Martinez does get it, we will NEED to get behind him.
I'm happy to get behind Martinez, I think he has the potential to do excellent things with us. He's certainly not bad enough for everyone to be flipping their lids this early.
Give the guy a chance FFS
I'd be happy with Martinez to be honest. Better than some of the other crap that we have been linked with
He wasn't my first choice, but it could be a lot worse. He seems like a likeable character. Time to get behind him..
He hasnt joined us yet lads and if he does he will get my full backing even thou i woulldn be happy with him been appointed
I will support him 100%.
I'm happy that we have martinez. I think he will do a good job. Now get rid of this badge ffs!!!
pros and cons aside , if he come , dont be negative , get behind him and give him every chance. if he does bad then say so then, but until then back him 100 %
To be honest i would quite like martinez but for the people who don't want him everyone needs to give him a chance and get behind him from the start.
Get behind him IF he ends up here.... any manager deserves the backing of the fans until he proves he don't deserve it.
Get behind him if he is the choice.

... and for the record he obviously wasn't my choice but I will support the manager of Everton Football Club and give him a chance to show us what he can do to progress our club. It's possible to be disappointed for a day or two AND support the new manager which I think is what a lot of us will do when this becomes official.

... but no need to lecture us or anticipate a "meltdown" before it's happened. The majority of the posts here have been very supportive (even from those who didn't want Martinez).

We're the best you know. Don't worry.

Moyes won us over with "people's club."

Martinez wins us over with "that new badge is horrible." ;)

He will waste money on sh1te given his transfer records.

But he had to spend big money on sh1te because he was at WIGAN ! You have to pay double to get anyone to play there. He will be at Everton now, a top six club with a solid foundation and money.

Different story

Wait, thinking about it now; If we wanted to speak to Martinez last Thursday and couldn't until after this meeting, that doesn't mean that Martinez is our number one target. The reason Pereira may have put his decision back a week is because Kenwright told him to due to him wanting to speak to both of them before making his decision. Thus this week having a meeting with Martinez and then allowing Kenwright to listen to what they have both said in their plans to take us forward and then make a decision.

As much as its looking like a done deal, maybe not just yet. Lets just wait and see. Its still ON ffs.

I'm clutching at straws arnt i?

Said from the beginning, Martinez is best of a bad bunch. Ill definitely give him a lot more support than i would the likes of Hughes, O'Neill, Stubbs etc.

Think there are more positives about Martinez than negatives.

I agree

And just for the ney sayers

1. Our defence is not going to turn into Wigans overnight. We have Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Duffy and Stones who he tried to sign at Wigan, and the possibility of Lescott coming back or others that we have been linked to.

2. He is most definitely open to improvement and that is not a bad thing. It's not like we were going to attract a massive name with a CV steeped with countless trophies.

3. He will be dealing with a better wage structure and has good connections into the Spanish league, which could be a magnificent thing!

Bring it on I say. Hola senor Martinez.

I'm just glad this manager situation is getting sorted and we've been saved from an internal appointment. Fully behind Martinez if he joins, hoping he gets some decent signings in, let's have a good pre season bash Real Madrid and The Italians in America, finish above the RS again next year have a great cup run and really push for Champions League football. Time to be positive, LET'S AV IT THEN LADS!!!
