Does anyone think that the reason why Perrira extended his period of contemplation until next week because he is being interviewed (maybe second interview) sometime this week?

Alex Ferguson, though

He managed in Scotland when it was a two team league (Dundee United and Aberdeen)

He was a controversial figure at times

Turned out okay for him

It was not a two team league, though. Celtic and Rangers never finished out of the top 4 in his time there, and Celtic won it more than dundee unired did.

Breaking the old firm is much more impressive than winning it with a team who were comfortably the biggest in the league.

Plus ferguson won a european trophy. It's not a reasonable comparison.

Exactly, the ones who say otherwise are probably fake accounts that are linked to Bill and Co.

pereira
assistant manager - primeira league winner , Portuguese cup winner , europa league winner , Portuguese super cup winner.
as manager - primeira league winner x2 , Portuguese super cup winner x2 , league cup runner up , european super cup runners up , last 16 champions league.
managed the likes of moutinho hulk falcao quaresma defour martinez maicon

pdc and avb both said he played a massive role in the clubs succes as assistant. when vp took over he has also lost a lot of his best players.

martinez
fa cup winner ,constant relegation battle untill finally relegated from the prem
managed the likes of franco di santo

It is if you compare the strength of Lennon's Celtic squad to the vastly more impressive Abderdeen squad that Ferguson had

Lennon has done reasonably well with a less than vintage Celtic squad. An average squad at best that still holds a victory over one of the better sides in Europe and also managed to get through a reasonably tough Champions League Group. With a better squad to work with, it is only reasonable to consider that he might be able to do better

We're better than Celtic. Do the maths

celtic beat barca .
well burton albion beat man utd in the fa cup a few years back, 2 teams vastly more different than celtic and barca. doesnt make the burton manager the best man for any managers job ? no.
lennon is not that good , the league and cup are very much in celtics favour , it would take a massive balls up for them not to win it . hes also not likable at all . in fact hes less likable than mark hughes , which takes some beating.

but being realistic.. the portugese league is comparable to scotland in the gap between top two and the rest. (even though scotland is a top 1 now).

Porto did not do well in Europe last year under Pereira and he had a much much much better team than Celtic at his disposal.
I would like Pereira as manager and I get the distinct feeling I'm biased because I just want someone new with fresh ideas..

I'm quite tired of all the anti-Pereira arguments that are just incorrect.

1) "He doesn't speak English". Where's the source on that? One journalist: "I believe he can muster the odd sentence, but I'm not sure if he is able to provide a coherent discourse." and that's all there is on that subject.

By the way, the journalist works for PortuGoal, a football site. Not even national media.

2) "He comes from a two-horse competition". So did AVB and Mourinho, and so many other trainers and players. For the people that know the Portuguese competition, they know that's not the case. But as I already said: So is the SPL, and Lennon managed to lose 7 times. But still there are people shouting his name as a possible contender.

Not that that means anything. It's just the easiest way to dismiss this stupid argument.

3) "People at Porto don't like him". Has been explained a number of times, but everyone seems to casually look over this. The chairman has been selling and selling, but supporters seem to blaim Pereira, who had little to say in all this.

4) "He's a coach, no manager". Not true. He was the one that orchestrated the transfers of Defour AND Mangala to Porto. They even bought Mangala for 5mil, in 2 years he's worth 20mil. He has a close connection with Luciano D'Onofrio through his agent (Hentoray, Mirallas' manager), who some of you might know.

Luciano D'Onofrio was the chairman of Standard de Liège when they launched some young talents by the name of Fellaini, Defour, Mangala, Witsel, Dante, ... when they beat us in 2008. They also bought a young Christian Benteke the next year.

So, I hope this clears up the air a bit about our next manager.

VITOR IN.

The difference is that teams like sporting and braga have proven themselevs in europe as quite strong teams.

A non celtic team hasn't won a single game in europe for years.

40 brain deads who have no idea what this club is about, class and dignity.

Lennon has neither.

Where did this 'class and dignity' stuff come from? It seems to get thrown about a lot on here, especially when discussing Moyes.

Always makes laugh. I'm sure I remember him motioning for the Gwladys to shove it up their arses when he thought one of his patented negative substitutions had secured a famous draw at home to Aston Villa. Too bad Ashley Young spoiled his party thirty seconds later.

i dont think they are comparable. theres 4 decent teams in the Portuguese league and vastly better players. scotland has 1 team with remarkable average players.
portugal have had european silverware success in recent years. scotland havent.
