For me, Moyes is our paradox.

He is the man who has quite sensationally transformed regular relegation contenders into equally regular top 6 contenders, with a good deal of 5th-7th place finishes in there.

Yet, for me, he is also the same man who is holding us back. I don't think he has the ability to take us to the next level. Finances are a big stumbling block but I don't think they're the sole factor, I think Moyes in himself is inherently too cautious for us to really take the next step.

The problem is, along with the aforementioned finances, I'm not sure we can attract the quality of manager who can do just that.

If it is the end, then thank you very much indeed David, you've done a superb job.

This is spot on. You would never fire Moyes if you were chairman because you would be taking a huge risk, but if he goes an opportunity presents itself. A few years ago I would have feared relegation but with our current squad I think that is unlikely so this may prove to be a positive.

I seriously don't want some up and coming manager like Rosler, Poyet, Freedman etc; and people like Hughes, O'Neill and McClaren an do one.

The club has moved on leaps and bounds (in terms of finishing position) since Moyes took over, going to one of the above will set us back again. Felli will be replaced by Andy Reid. We need to think a bit bigger

Like who mate?

SIR ALEX FERGUSON
Manchester United chief executive David Gill, speaking to MUTV: "We have to look forward now and I think any manager coming in will inherit a great squad and great staff around him. It is a dream job. I won't speculate on the announcement but I think we will move relatively quickly.

"In Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex we got in managers who got involved in all aspects of the club. That degree of loyalty is crucial to the success of Manchester United. He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool."

Loyalty to a club - 11 years
Domestic experience - yep he has got that
European experience - not a great deal but a little I suppose.

If it wasn't nailed on already, it is now. Moyes off.

I hope we think ambitiously, there's absolutely no reason (other than their availability) we can't attract a quality manager. What is there to sell? We're a big club, an historic club, with a good quality squad and regularly finishing in the top 6/7, with the clear challenge to get those extra points to get into the top 4/5. That should be seen as a challenge for some quality managers IMO.

Let's not settle for 2nd best here - even though I fear we will.

"required experience in Europe" doesn't apply to Moyes all that much tbh. If they consider his brief entry into the CL in 2004 as a valid credential though who knows..

That statement doesn't nail it whatsoever.

Moyes has little European experience.

Domestic experience? Er, what manager doesn't have domestic experience?

You're saying that because you already think it is Moyes. It might well be but Gill's statement far from confirms that.

We are now facing the worst case scenario.

I personally don't believe Moyes is in the running at Old Trafford.....but he will be building himself up that he is by believing all the meejah types who are wishing him into the job.

It will be a massive blow to him when it isn't forthcoming and we will be left with a sulking, sullen Moyes whom is only with us because United didn't want him.

For the good of EFC, Kenwright needs to was goodbye to Moyes right now.

Our club are being made to look to be of no account and just a springboard for David Moyes to further his career.

We are better than this, Mr. Kenwright.

Sort it out.

I'm gonna have a cheeky wager on Rafael for the Man U job. He matches the requirements, and it would be the next stop on his magical mystery tour of clubs whose fans hate him. He'll stay there for a few years and then join us following our Arab takeover, which is facilitated by the backlash against Kenwright for messing up the appointment of Moyes' successor. This is all beginning to make sense.
