Confirmed that their have been media reports quoting Ralf ruling himself out

Quote from Ralf:
"I wasn't prepared to see the club sell its best players every year to generate a pittance of transfer funds."

its gonna be a bad time to be buying quality this summer though, loads of clubs with stupid money to spend, lesser players being hyped up before the world cup. could be a much better position keeping what you have and looking round for unsung gems. If we got 25 to 30 mill for Fellaini, it may sound like a lot of money, but a sensible manager and the player himself should be thinking that a year playing in his right position and a starring role for Belgium and 25 to 30 million is a steal. a bigger offer and even a better club could be after him next summer. maybe he will stick with us even then and try his hand in the CL with us.
As far as Baines goes Evra is hardly a liability and Butters has looked promising, so 15 mill for someone pushing 30 doesn't sound like the kind of business United would expect to do. No-one else seems likely to appeal to him or come in for him

Better than next summer will be, or last summer even. Fees always go north when a player has a half decent showing at any big tournament.

The longer this get now, should we be concerned that Bill cannot get him number 1 to sign, is someone stalling?

If it goes beyond today maybe - but I think at the moment it's all going to script. I fully expect a press conference with a smiling Bobby at 5pm today after a lunchtime announcement.

To be fair mate, those of us that go to Goodison every other week are entitled to, and probably do know more, then those that don't. That's not a criticism of those that don't, everyone's circumstances are different. Just a fact

The only reason I don't go to Goodison every game - I did, once - is that I don't live anywhere near.

I must say ,though, that watching football on television usually gives you a better insight on what occurs.

I've been at Aussie Rules matches, and football matches and seen stuff which I changed my mind about when I saw the replay on the telly.

I'm talking about the game here and not the politics of it, which you can have an informed opinion about without going to the match.

For the history buffs to pass the time today....

According to my monitor this thread is on page 1,340 so....

In the year 1340 AD, the following happened:

Jan 26th - English king Edward III proclaimed king of France
Apr 1st - Niels Ebbesen kills Gerhard III of Holstein in his bedroom, ending the 1332-1340 interregnum in Denmark.
Jun 7th - Rotterdam Netherlands founded
Jun 24th - In the Hundred Years War, British fleet destroys the French at the battle of Sluys
Sep 25th - England & France sign disarmament treaty
Oct 30th - Battle of Rio Salado.
Nov 28th - Battle of Salado Spain: last Moor invasion driven back

Well looks like it will be RM, perhaps he has been a bit awkward over policy and contract that has delayed the announcment. Not my first choicethough.

Do you honestly, really believe Billy Liar has been interviewing more than one candidate?? Remeber it was not so long ago that he was talking to three possible investors, so where are they. You cannot believe a word this man says.

Does that mean on Friday we're gonna install a Dutch coach?

Van Basten in!
