It's probably the transfer budget that's holding it all up, Martinez has said how much is there bill? Bill says we don't talk about that here son. Let me tell you about the boys pen.

Roberto: So Bill, I'm all for taking on the role, but one thing is concerning me. What would the transfer budget be this pre-season?
Bill: Well, as you know Roberto, finances are tight, but I will always back you as much as I can.
Roberto: Had we stayed up with Wigan, Mr Whelan assured me of 20m this summer to spend, are we looking at a minimum of that, yes?
Bill: I wouldn't like to discuss exact sums, but you might need to get rid of a few deadwood players... Anichebe, Mucha *cough* Fellaini, Vellios...
Roberto: Fellaini?! I guess if we can get 25m for him I'd really be able to build my own squad with that plus say an extra 20m from yourself and the board. You all want us to progress, right?
Bill: Roberto, relax. Remember, we constantly broke our transfer record for David... Beattie, Johnson, Yakubu... And anyway, did I ever tell you about that one time in the Boys' Pen?
Roberto: I'll be back in touch tomorrow Bill.

Is it not possible that we would have agreed a deal in principle with 'old broke his leg once' before final interviews occurred with a number of candidates?

Do you really think we'd interview a final two or three for example without knowing who cost what?

I'm sure we didn't agree terms with Mirallas before we had agreed a fee with Olympiakos for example?

I know it's unlikely, just food for thought.

Exactly. You can't expect BK to rush to a decision just because the likes of us are having kittens. Whelan hasn't helped matters by making us all think it's done and dusted when all he's done has agreed on a compensation fee should RM be offered the job!

if the delay now is to just wind Whelan up then to be honest I think its worth it

Pereira out... of Porto.

Although rumours here have him going to Russia or Turkey, not Everton. Settling for the best offer money-wise, I reckon.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/david-weir-next-everton-manager-1912382 I love the way the Everton propaganda machine doses it's effort over a period of time. Just readying itself for the final nail in the coffin of the *external candidates* before finally revealing the decision that was taken last week to go with the yes man cheapo option. The ginger divvy's final insult. Thanks Moyesie, and thanks Bill you pair of friggin belters.

That's exactly the line of thought Kenwright wants you to think (with the added step of Martinez staying at Wigan or going elsewhere and therefore triggering the *only possible solution* of an internal appointment). They play our fans like a grand piano. This race was run last week and the winner is just waiting to be announced when a decent enough time has been allowed to elapse. Evertonians = the most gullible fans in English football.

As far as I'm aware and have been made aware, there has been zero approaches to anyone outside Everton. They've pretty much let a week elapse allowing the media to help them out putting forward names implying we're going for them and the managerial search is a serious one. They'll give it a few days more to allow Martinez to rule himself out and then make an internal appointment, imo. A cynical manipulation of the media to pull the wool over their own supporters eyes...that's what's Champions League class about our board. They are the industry leaders as con artists.

Only thing I'm expecting mate is Weir to be unveiled. Clown club led by Coco from his west end bunker.

Ahhh, there we go. At least Bill tried though. Send for the FF cone-laying gang, we're just about done.

I think you underestimate the ability of the vast majority of Evertonians to continue to swallow the propaganda mate. In reality they wont have to do much - "he's an ex-blue...we only ever win trophies with ex-blues as managers....Moyes backs him to keep us progressing yada yada yada"...and it'll be swallowed hook line and sinker.

I see the Echo are keeping up the deceit on behalf of the club that the managerial vacancy remains open. Very cruel. Save your energies lads. This one has been decided for almost a week. Weir will be the next manager. Martinez interest and Pereira *interest* iare just the fig leaves they need to sell you the internal candidate.

From everything you've heard now does it seem remotely possible that Everton have contacted any external candidate? Not a chance. There's only three irons in the fire and they all put cones out at FF. You've heard today that Bill's bird said she knows who it is and wont say. Well what's all that telling you? Do you really need it spelling out? I know it's incredible and **** and it's beyond a joke, but look no further than Weir on this. Done deal IMO. The feller linked with the Falkirk job three months ago will in all likelihood now be trundled forward as 'the significant' replacement for the outgoing Moyes. And you know what? After the initial shock when it's announced most will fall in with the official spin that he's a the right choice to continue the *great* work of Moyes and that he has massive respect amongst the squad yada yada yada....you KNOW it will be swallowed. Forget the alternatives, imo; they're not and never were going to happen.

A well deserved vaulting Dave

Davek did say in another post that he would eat humble pie if the board did appoint an external candidate..I wonder what type of filling he would like.

I think that this process has shown us that some posters are just too paranoid about the way the club is run.

That is not to say that Martinez will be a big success ,he may well be a disaster, but every managerial appointment is a risk.
It does appear that a logical process has been followed, internal canditates, out of contract canditates and canditates in contract.
As it happens it looks as if the board are appointing a man from the group that many thought most unlikely...because of the cost to the club.

What I find difficult to understand is the belief that some seem to have that Bill Kenwright has almost badwill towards the club.
I cannot understand this logic as he more than anybody stands to gain from the success of the club.
In fact the club has largely prospered and stabilised under his tenure. What he certainly is guilty of is not having deep pockets which would allow us to compete at the top table.

Initially, I wasn't too excited about Martinez but now it looks a certainty I cannot wait for the new season.

Was bored to death of moyes' football (loved him as a manager tho) and we may try and play with a bit more flair.
