has a managerial appointment broken down at this kind of stage before, player transfers have but can't think of a manager one off the top of my head, must have done though

To be fair Martinez is the best of the rest, Villa went for Lambert, Liverpool went for Rodgers, Man u went for Moyes, Chelsea gone back for Jose, all these managers have had experience in this league and that why we need the same type. I would have had Lambert but Villa beat us to him.

would have gone for Lambert too, brave man to go to Villa on hiding to nothing and think he will turn it round. think Martinez would have been just behind him at the time. Not sure why Lambert's stake feels like its gone up and Martinez's down since. Relegation in their positions was just down to few key moments so doesn't really matter over the long term. I think Whelan's constantly overselling of Martinez has effected thinking and was unfortunate to see the full 90 mins defensive performance against Swansea.

Martinez turned down approaches from them both, subtle but important

hope that is a good sign, could also mean he isn't prepared to accept a challenge at under-performing clubs. he could be the right fit and what he has done anywhere else won't matter. no guarantees and I worry about clubs who think they have got managers that come with a guarantee

It could be that Lambert reminds me of Moyes.

Has got Moyes integrity and thoroughness I reckon, but looks prepared to gamble and this years experience will make him better. can see him in very big job eventually
