I wouldn't be too disappointed with Phil. Could be a disaster could work out well, and at least he knows what Evertons all about wouldn't need settling in like others would.

My thoughts:

Benitez - at this point I'm really not arsed about his past. Out of contract, no compo needed, won loads of stuff, still lives on Merseyside. It would [Poor language removed] RS fans no end. It won't happen though because he's clearly eyeing Rodgers job when the inevitable sacking comes.

Laudrup - would love him at EFC, but his release clause is reportedly £10m. Plus you wonder if he's a one season wonder at a small club, a la Mike Walker. I'd suggest not, because he's been at big clubs as a player and knows what they're all about, but you never know.

Martinez - I think he's a decent guy who's done well under restricted circumstances at a lower level than Moyes. But relegation will be a blot on his CV, even if he wins the cup on Saturday.

Mackay - a lot of people dismissing him, but he's done alright at Cardiff, after years of Dave Jones failing to get them up and them being there or there abouts. Mackay was the one who finally got them over the line and changed their mindset so he's obviously done something right. Compensation might be a problem though.

Neil Lennon - Two words: Walter Smith.

Mark Hughes - Would be a disastrous appointment.

They're the obvious ones I can think of and seen mentioned.
