Martinez is one of only two managers (with Wenger) to have a positive transfer net spend: i.e. he has made more money on transfers than he has lost. Not even Moyes can boast that record. He is comfortable applying innovation to his tactics and never shies from accepting blame or fault nor does he ever react like a terse, snide [Poor language removed] to the media (unlike Davie, which I counted as one of his few faults) - lways seems approachable and interactive with fans and journalists alike, has a commitment to good football and obviously inspires a great team ethic (with the amount of mistakes they make it must be a major job to just to stop them tearing each other's throats out) - defensively he has obviously not devised a workable formula but I don't see why he couldn't with us.
He is basically everything I admire in a manager and I would love to see him given a chance with us. Whether he would want to leave Wigan is another matter, for he is refreshingly loyal (yet again another plus). So we'll see. But I'd certainly be happy with him.

can anyone indicate what Wigan's transfer budget and wage bill has been under Martinez, relative to the rest of the league? Unfortunately I am hungover and can't be arsed to research this myself

We're going to have managers and their people linking themselves through the media because they want the job and because they want rises , bill testing fan interest and support , unemployed managers like Hughes whoring themselves unashamedly , members of staff leaking their names that they are/aren't interested , chairman distancing their managers , talksport jumping on every passing bandwagon , the echo doing the chairman's bidding , dave whelan on sky 24/7 bigging up Martinez and claiming we aren't a top club all in all it's going to be a long few weeks.
