..........we can't be arrogant enough to believe that any of those mentioned will want to come to us. Its going to be a gamble but Martinez is my preferred choice - a record of working with a limited budget and turning up the odd gem. The other thing about Martinez is that he supposedly turned rs down, which illustrates sound judgement.
I absolutely don't rate Mark Hughes or Neil Lennon and would be unhappy if we courted either of those two.

We will not pay compensation to any club, for obvious reasons.

So therefore we will appoint from within.

I wish Steve McClaren would distance himself though, it could happen !

Due to Moyes actions in doing a "Gosling" whoever we get will almost certainly already be out of contract.

Here's the crux of the matter: 10 years ago we couldn't have got any worse without re-appointing Mike Walker. Moyes was a refreshing change, an exciting gamble, and an inspiring character. He had fight, drive and grit. He was limited (at first) but he was just what we needed.

Today, we realistically can't get any better. The loans we may have earnt off the back of Moyes' good reputation will dry up. Our top players will leave. The lack of stability will be deeply unsettling at first. Unless we appoint the ideal candidate - from which we have a very, very small selection pool - we are just on a downward curve. Whether that will be a slide or a spiral depends on just how bad the appointment is. For now at least, the best we can hope for is a plateau, a levelling off. Just keep us at this level and whoever we appoint will have done brilliantly.

Success requires spending power, that much is true.

Some of the names here are pretty outrageous. We are Everton. We should not be looking at people who get clubs relegated on a similar ish budget to our own.
None of the candidates appear look to have finished in the top 6 of our league once. Thats not good enough for where we are now.
I would suggest Van Basten, De Boer or Bielsa.
