I don't think taking a team down is necessarily a bad thing for a manager. I know in my job I never try to make the same mistakes twice. He is still a young man. Don't forget, man Utds manager only kept us up on goal difference before obviously learning from it.

Don't remember that. Refresh my memory.

don't want alan stubbs anywhere near the manager position.

This with bells on. If this actually takes place then I f*cking well give up. Bill and his cronies can take a running jump with their mantra of subservience and obedience at all costs. Massive chance to finally kick on and he appoints Alan f*cking Stubbs. I am fuming

I'm fully prepared to get behind ANY of those internal candidates. The truth is none of us know how they would do in the hot seat. It might be a disaster, or it might turn out brilliantly. Certainly makes more sense than actually paying millions compensation for Roberto bloody Martinez.

Chill, in DAVIDMOYES of GOT we trust mate.

I have got people in mind," Kenwright is quoted by the People.

"A lot of those mentioned are not too far away.

"Everton have got a type, it's a very hard working industrial football club."

...but none will be manager; that's the corollary of that short statement.

Hello, New poster, Long time lurker here.

Anyway, A latic friend of mine mentioned the following to me and after a little digging, I also noticed a thread on a Wigan fan forum.

'Everton are due to hold a press conference on Tuesday with regards to the appointment of their new manager

The Liverpool Echo are planning to run with a story about the new manager on Monday on their website

Apparently compensation agreed with club and negotiations have been ongoing for at least one month'

Although it mentions no names, The lad who told me this is pretty sure it is martinez, and is usually pretty spot on with Wigan info, But when I asked him where he got this from, He refused to say, And just ended up tapping his nose saying 'Wait and See'.

He could be on a wind up, But thought I would post it here to see if anyone else has heard anything similar?

Jesus, it's going to be internal isn't it? At least the positive in all of this is that when it goes tits up the scrutiny on Bill and the Board will intensify and hopefully that might prepare the ground for a change at that level.

If it has to be internal, I would want Stubbs or Sheedy, purely because they at least have experience of managing our age group teams which the other candidates don't.

Yeah I've been thinking the same about the board coming under heavy pressure if we give the job to stubbs and then start dropping down the table like a lead balloon. Irvine who has managed Sheff Weds or Steve Round would be the sensible choices, Dunc would be the one to get the fans buzzing.
I really don't want any internal appointment, but especially not Stubbs. I just can't see it working and for me has the highest chance of being a disaster.

I've seen a similar rumour to this actually.

We shall see.

Does it though? i don't want Martinez myself but like i said to someone else earlier, it's not a choice between JUST Martinez or an internal appointment, no one on the staff have any managerial experience especially not with a team challenging for top four / europe neigh on every season. I'd rather pay a few million taking someone like Tuchel, De boer or even get pereira on a FREE than get someone from our staff. This is our chance to push on and do something different, Moyes has built a good team and a steady backroom and kept us safe, but in 11 years we haven't won anything and our football hasn't been AMAZINGLY exciting. This is a massive chance for Everton and i do not want us to **** this up by putting someone as our manager who has no experience and will just follow in the moyes mould, just not as good as him.

Silly thing to say.

Not really, i'd still go and watch us when i can, but season tickets cost a lot of money and at the end of the day i'm not going to pay for something i wouldnt be happy paying to see. I'll always get behind the new manager whatever it is, and i'm probably saying most of this because i'm annoyed, but i just couldn't be arsed keeping my season ticket when i can already imagine the football in my head, if we got someone from the inside.

How do you derive from that -unless BK & DM are just putting a smokescreen up as it will be a an other with Stubbs as his assistant for his defensive knowledge - that would make sense but if it is two untried backroom staff a big big gamble it may all fall apart - DM should have no say in our new management set up as after today he is Man U through & through a big conflict of interest imo only lovie dovie BK can balls it up good style no compensation for DM & now this maybe??????
