Moyes sacked by United

moyes had a terrible season like, but the squad was woeful, look at that starting XI that played us at goodison - was possibly partly his fault for not strengthening well, but they'd spent a mass amount for van gaal, only to finally get their first win yesterday after getting trounched 4-0 by MK Dons.

i don't think van gaal would have had a much better season had he not been chucked another £80m to get blind, di maria and falcao.

11 years. ELEVEN YEARS. And Moyes didn't win a pot and had you playing turgid, negative football at the same time. He's a bog standard manager and I am being kind - he's no better than Alan Pardew or Harry Redknapp.

You do realize that in moyes last/2nd to last season with us by the October we had been making more chances on goal than any other team in Europe (we just couldn't finish our dinner).

but yeah we only ever played negative football obviously. you're a mid table team now so just get used to it mate.

He won more in his first 2 months than Van Gaal has

Yay give Moyes a trophy! Yet again he's proven that he's a winner without actually winning anything!

You're seriously deluded if you think Moyes and Van Gaal are even comparable as managers. One of them has actually, you know, won silverware. The Dour One couldn't win a darts competition at his local.

Look, I know Moyeseh managed you lot for 11 years and some of you feel the need to stick up for him but honestly, he's average. Every supporter of every club I know says the same - even the Newcastle supporters don't want him near their club.

You're spot on in everything you've said - as you say, some on here will always look for the positives in a managers who was here over a decade, and that's fair enough, but Moyes since (at the very least) the cup final against Chelsea was an abomination of a tactical manager, and most people on here acknowledge that now.

Basically, you're arguing the toss with the minority. No real point in doing so.

Thanks for the head's up mate. I think with this place, people look for bites from me because I don't support Everton. I guess i've just got to ignore them.

We should both be happy as supporters - you've got the best young manager in the league and we've got someone who is going to turn us around and hopefully leave us in decent shape, like he has done at Bayern Munich.

It's not bites as such - I get the same if I stick my head above the parapet about Moyes, and got it much, much worse when pointing out the same things when he was here - so it's nothing to do with you being a Mancunian. It's just loyalty to a man who was here for so long, misplaced though it may be. You get people who still defend Phil Neville, for example, for no logic other than he was an Everton captain.

I understand it, as they're fans at the end of the day and support the club in whatever they do - blue tinted glasses, as it were. Difference is, Evertonians can do it to a degree and it's easy to understand why; whereas Kopites are that and more to a man; they will support anything and everything Liverpool like a cult, as evidenced by supporting a racist who commits bodily harm on opponents.

Completely agree mate. It's strange how Moyes is protected by our media too - it just shows how Xenophobic they are. Can you imagine if Villas Boas managed you for 11 years and won nothing? He'd get the poo slang at him left, right and centre. But not good ol' Davie, the media's mate. "He just needs time." They forget that he had over a decade of time yet still didn't deliver anything of note.

He'd do well for Newcastle. Top 10 club looking to push into Europe occasionally, Moyes is your man.
Played some nice stuff with us once he'd built a solid foundation.
Not a fashionable choice given how it fell to pieces at United but the man is still a decent manager.

I disagree mate, I think he's bang average - but we'll leave it there, I've given my opinion and you're more than entitled to yours :)

Your definition of bang average is definitely different to mine thenlol. I'd describe Pardew as a bang average manager.

Do you think the senior players supported Moyes in the manner that they should have?

A better way to ask the question would be "Do you think last season was all of Moyes fault?" No I don't. He inherited a poor team on paper BUT funds were available to him and he didn't move on players. He wanted more time "assess the transfers" and then he panicked at last minute and brought in Fellaini who is useless.

The senior players could see through him - I mean, how can someone walk into a changing room filled with players that have won it all at the highest level whilst your manager hasn't won bugger all, like, ever. People around here label Rodgers as a Charlatan at Liverpool then Moyes is exactly the same. If anything, Rodgers is a far better manager than Moyes will ever be. And I can't stand Rodgers so it pains me to say that.

So no, I don't blame Ferdinand for how he behaved and I don't blame him for dishing out the dirt in his autobiography. Moyes has been given a free ride with all of this - our matchgoing supporters were fantastic towards him last season despite the awful football, the excuses, the poor signings, the dithering, the "lack of luck", the "getting it to the byline" etc.

He's awful. And I'd rather Tony Pulis, Steve Bruce etc to David Moyes. At least they are secure with the level they manage at and don't think that they're better than they are.

Fair enough. For mine some of the blame for transfers has to lie on Woodward.
I'm of the more conservative mindset that your senior players back the manager end of, you don't go off and throw a hissy because the man took away your chips and then start a coup when it all starts going to crap, you stand up, tell the players it just isn't good enough, and that we are Manchester United and shall play like it. Wasn't the leadership that I would expect from players that had won everything, it was as though they'd gone right, this guy hasn't won anything and we don't like him, this year is a write off and he'll be fired so lets just turn up next year lads.

As good and tolerant as your match going fans were, your online fans were shocking. It was delusion and expectation levels as bad as RAWK that eventually built up the pressure on him. The bile was quite frankly astounding, and he became a literal laughing stock.

I agree that online some of the vitriol spouted was over the top. But you have to take that with a pinch of salt - kids with keyboards will always let loose. It has been this way since the introduction of the internet and social media.

My biggest issue with last season wasn't actually Moyes, it wasn't Woodward and it wasn't the players. It was Fergie. He had no right in making a decision on who our next manager should be - he should have retired and stepped away, allowing the owners to perform an application process for the job, as happens at every other club at this level.

But no. He picked up the phone, popped over to Davie's house and told him he was the next manager of Manchester United. Like he was doing an old friend a favour. It was naive and arrogant of Fergie and it came back to haunt him and the club.
