Moyes sacked by United

I agree that online some of the vitriol spouted was over the top. But you have to take that with a pinch of salt - kids with keyboards will always let loose. It has been this way since the introduction of the internet and social media.

My biggest issue with last season wasn't actually Moyes, it wasn't Woodward and it wasn't the players. It was Fergie. He had no right in making a decision on who our next manager should be - he should have retired and stepped away, allowing the owners to perform an application process for the job, as happens at every other club at this level.

But no. He picked up the phone, popped over to Davie's house and told him he was the next manager of Manchester United. Like he was doing an old friend a favour. It was naive and arrogant of Fergie and it came back to haunt him and the club.
The man left a terrible legacy. No midfield or defence (apparently an ancient scouting system too), and then he self appointed Moyes.

Basically, yes! He left a fantastic goal keeper in De Gea and that's about it. And he let too many players stick around on big wages for far too long. Which is quite ironic considering he didn't take any rubbish. Young, Anderson, Cleverley, Welbeck, Hernandez, Evans, Evra, Fletcher and Bebe should have been sold a long time ago. Thankfully, Van Gaal won't accept this according to Daley Blind's interview today. Anderson etc won't be here in January/next summer.

Seems to be a lot more people defending Moyes on here recently. Truth is that he's not cut out for the top level. He'll only ever be good for a Newcastle type side.

I don't think people are defending him - just stating that its not all his fault.

You're right, he's nowhere near good enough for a top level job - he was good enough for us for about 5/6 years when we were in and around the CL places mix then the glass ceiling hit and we were just 'making do' with top 8 finishes instead of pushing on. Newcastle would be an ideal fit.

Yay give Moyes a trophy! Yet again he's proven that he's a winner without actually winning anything! lol

You're seriously deluded if you think Moyes and Van Gaal are even comparable as managers. One of them has actually, you know, won silverware. The Dour One couldn't win a darts competition at his local.

Look, I know Moyeseh managed you lot for 11 years and some of you feel the need to stick up for him but honestly, he's average. Every supporter of every club I know says the same - even the Newcastle supporters don't want him near their club.

Not the ones I know.

At another forum I post at, there's quite a few Newcastle supporters who frequent it. Not ONE of them want Moyes near their club - they feel they'd be going sideways with that appointment rather than forwards.

Plus, Newcastle fans crave attractive, attacking football. Moyes won't deliver this.

11 years. ELEVEN YEARS. And Moyes didn't win a pot and had you playing turgid, negative football at the same time. He's a bog standard manager and I am being kind - he's no better than Alan Pardew or Harry Redknapp.

Not fair. This is the perception of fans of the big money sides, because that's how he set up against them. Not really the case against "inferior" sides though, certainly in his latter years with us. Ask fans of Swansea or Southampton about how Everton played against them under Moyes.

Probably fair to say it of his early years, but look at the players that were available to him back then.

And I can't stand the ginger pr*ck and was glad to see the back of him, too, but I'm not having the "turgid, negative" cliche. We played some really nice togger under his stewardship at times.

Pardew and Redknapp? You're having a laugh, mate. Well, maybe I'll give you Harry, but Pardew. Trolololololol.

Terrible from @bizzaro being obnoxious to the United fan on here and causing a problem.

It's obviously not for me to decide how to deal with him but he's doing a disservice to all sound Evertonians and opposition fans who live together in perfect harmony on here.

The irony here is that if, let's say, Martin Skrtel in a few years wrote that Kenny Dalglish was a dinosaur in his autobiography, you lot would be lapping it up.

Bad example.
If Skrtl were to release an autobiography slating Hodgson off for his time at Liverpool I wouldn't get any particular pleasure from it.
Not that I didn't enjoy how horrific Liverpool were during his time there- but I recognise that he got most of the blame when he was not most at fault. He was a scapegoat. And terrible. But a scapegoat. The filler before the fans favourite (king kenny lol). Similar to Moyes at United.

lol Oh, those Mags. Who do they think they'll manage to attract to their circus of a club, then?

I'm not here to argue with anyone or offend. My 'bitter' remark was because he was coming across as bitter not because I think Evertonians are bitter. If anything, you're a humble lot and your red neighbours are the most bitter, spiteful people around.

I enjoy this forum a lot - the mods are sound, and reasonable. I'm quite a colourful character at times, I admit - and I'll always stick up for my club but I do try to be objective. I'm not deluded, I know United were rubbish last season and that we needed investment on better players.

But for a club as big as Man Utd to hire a no-mark like Moyes was awfully silly. Can you imagine Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona going in for him? Because believe it or not, we're up there with those kind of clubs when it comes to stature and supporter base.

It was bonkers. Sir Bobby and Sir Alex were smoking the funny stuff at the time, I'm sure of it.

I have a feeling that Moyes will be back, somewhere, at some point, and that this time...

It will be personal.

I hope he does well wherever he ends up. He seems a nice enough bloke. He's deluded if he thinks he's a CL level manager though - he's not. And it's like he's waiting for a Dortmund/Juventus kind of job to come up.

I think you're writing someone off who will be so fuming that his every moment will be spent plotting United's downfall.

And don't forget, he's very rich.
