If I was a Sland fan I'd be delighted with this. As has been repeatedly stated so far, he's perfect for a club in their current position. If he can achieve half of what he did over 11 years in the league at Everton up there, Sland's PL survival is assured and they'll stay clear of relegation scraps at the very least. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them making appearances in the top half in a few years, all going well. Until this appointment I thought their eventual relegation was only a matter of time. Now I'd see it as a big surprise.

It's a good job he gets at least a year to settle in before Sland fans have to sit through a derby like. I don't think they'll be winning 6 in a row again any time soon, should Newcastle come back up.

One of the best players I've ever seen was Kevin Philips who cost £350, 000 from Watford and my first thought was who the hell is he.
