Moyes to Sunderland

If I were a Sunderland fan I'd be pretty chuffed with the appointment. He'll do a good job there. You can't help but have a bit of a soft spot for Sunderland except for when they beat us.

Let's not beat around the bush, this is a very good appointment by Sunderland; in fact probably the best they could probably expect to achieve.

Ignoring all the negatives sentiments post-departure, he did a pretty darn good job here when you consider the resources at his disposal.

Firstly, I'm confident he'll keep them up (their primary goal I expect) with his defensively sound football and there will be much less uncertainty.

He can produce some decent attacking football if he wants (his last two years are often ignored now), and can work frugally in the transfer market.

With some solid training, a few shrewd acquisitions and the experience he has has then I'll expect them to comfortably prop up 13-15th place.

All the Toon fans were laughing a mere few days ago about their lack of manager and lack of activity - I expect there'll be less sniggering today.

Yes, I agree with most of that except I'd expect them to finish higher, maybe top 10. One things for sure, Sunderland won't be easy to beat.

I was being conservative with my expectations based on the extra quality and funds other clubs now have, and Sunderland's own lack of quality.

If he'd been at Sunderland for a longer period then I'd put it higher, but I think he'll need a few weeks to steady the ship so less additions.

Hes a great manager mate, there is a bit of bad blood between him and us, but he is a fantastic manager, he has a great eye for a player and will build your club top to bottom.

I would go so far to say probably the best appointment i have ever seen Sunderland make.

I was happy enough with big Sam. However, I really think Moyes is perfect for us.

Now we need to get some players in and sit back and hopefully I can enjoy a season for once.
