Alright lads, Sunderland fan here.
What should we expect from Moyes? Will he keep us up?
I think he certainly will keep you up
When Moyes first came to us, we were in a comparable situation to Villa last season. We'd been fighting, and barely avoiding, relegation for a number of years
He brought us stability and did it all on a (comparatively) meagre budget
I think he'll be just right for you in your current situation
He'll stabilse you and make you a Premier League fixture
You may eventually reach the point we did, where Moyes reaches his ceiling and can't take you any further, but you'll be pleased as punch with him prior to that point
He's perfectly suited to you and will do an excellent job. You've landed on your feet with Davey and he'll get you where you want to be. You can then look at kicking on after a few years and, with backing from the board, actually look to doing more than just survive, which I sense is something a lot of your supporters would want
Only one word of warning, he isn't great at bringing young players through, preferring more to go with veterans, so you may get frustrated in that regard. He will bring through the ones with undeniable talent, but the ones who need more care and work are probably going to suffer. You probably won't notice this in his first few years in the job, but it may rankle as time wears on (As it did with a lot of us)
