It's another cover up they accept blame & the compensation trickles through - many claimants will pass away - their lives ruined too - an utter disgrace .....The post office have paid out millions although most of it went on legals. They claim they ran out of money.
Can only agree Joey. Now it's been blown open for all to see I'd expect things to now speed up and hopefully the victims are compensated in months now not years. The TV program has now rendered the PO and powers that be with no place to hide. It's another cover up they accept blame & the compensation trickles through - many claimants will pass away - their lives ruined too - an utter disgrace .....
there's a brilliant series on thew BBC Sounds, The Great Post Office Trial, its a good listen but what happened is saddening and upsetting for those involved, and infuriating that those who perpetuated it have not been made accountable.I'm not a serious TV watcher and usually stick with Salvage Hunters and Wheeler Dealers on Quest lol It is the Mrs in our house who is the book reader and watcher of gritty dramas, I can't be doing with them.
However last night she urged me to watch the first episode of this, under protest I did and very grateful to her for pushing the point.
Superbly acted and very well put together drama doc, only spoiled by the anger I felt against the bosses of the PO and Fujitsu, certainly be tuning in tonight.
Really hope this stirs a hornets nest now and people pay for their wrong doings, it seems the program is whipping up a frenzy already.
Anyone else watch it?

probably the biggest miscarriage of justice in this country, ever. Hundreds of Post and Sub Postmasters were prosecuted for theft of money that had supposedly gone missing from their branch accounts. There was a fault with their accounting system (called Horizon) that they denied for corporate reasons, to maintain the reputation of the PO. The PO is an authority that is allowed to bring prosecutions separate to the CPS, so the PO did not comply with things like rules of disclosure that CPS do. They also protracted any appeals deliberately to cause the complainants to run out of money and fold. People went to gaol, some committed suicide or died without being cleared. By chance almost (the first of those radio programmes explains how) the story came out and was exposed. Lives were ruined. It was absolutely scandalous. What is this all about?
Very true that mate, thinking the same here too.Yeah .. the problem was that the posties could only get vampire lawyers (no win, no fee brigade) to take on the case and IIRC they’ve taken at least 70% of the settlement to date.
This is on a par with the contaminated blood scandal
After watching last nights episode i will watch the last 3. I don't think I could watch or listen to more of it, Infuriating as you rightly say. I will from now on though be watching and waiting for the day these scum who carried out this vindictive scandal are banged to rights big time.....it simply has to happen now.there's a brilliant series on thew BBC Sounds, The Great Post Office Trial, its a good listen but what happened is saddening and upsetting for those involved, and infuriating that those who perpetuated it have not been made accountable.
