What money? We clearly have money, we just offered 30million for a player.

Lack of signings has nothing to do with money, its about incompetence, get angry at the right people Matty.

The DoF and The Chairman are solely to blame for our current inaction.
We don't have the money, the club are acting like they have SOME money but don't in a nutshell hence no signings.

It was reported back in Jan that Everton are a nightmare to deal with in the transfer window as they were making bids for players that they couldn't follow up as they did not have any money (it was Sky news)
Also that £30 mil bid was apparently €23 mil euros over 5 years payment.
So in a nutshell there is no money

Reported yes, by club stooges.

They want the fanbase to think there's no money, it stops them getting angry at the right people.

There is money.

The whole premise of the supposed deal still doesn't make sense to me, when its taken in the context of MSP coming in and "taking over".
Unless I've missed something, the $165 million loan is a warrant, and will not be immediately converted to equity when the investment is formalised.

How, on that basis, they are meant to come in and get first dibs on the appointments of a new Chairman and CEO, is a mystery to me. They will clearly have some influence, but will be co-existing in a world where Kenwright, and now, Moshiri as a director, sit at opposite ends of the table, and very likely with conflicting aims and conflicting views.

This is then supposed to be how things will be for anything up to 2 years, whilst the stadium is completed supposing MSP launch further funding rounds in successive tranches.

For all this, to me, they might as well be buying into a chain of hotels as much as a football club.

And even in the absence of money, we desperately need a new direction at the club. New faces with experience and competency, to speak to us, and at least try to provide some assurances that in the end, everything will be ok. They are going to have an immensely tough job. I just don't see, at present at least, what's in it for someone like George Downing to come in as Chairman and oversee another 12-18 months of severe austerity. What's in it for him or someone else in that role as it stands when in their view, the existing culprits can take the flak until they sell up?

I read a line in one article covering the deal that said MSP was only ever interested in a minority stake and was primarily focused on the stadium.

That gave me the sinking feeling that they just wanted to be landlords, generating income from the building, with no interest in improving the club. And then the board was sacked but Kenwright retained, and as an added slap, Moshiri joined the board. The articles that had claimed MSP were going to take over the club and transform the board were wishful thinking at best.

It's certainly wishful thinking that their arrival will bring immediate change. It's at least 12 months off in that respect, and with no certainty at all that that is how things will pan out. The idea that they are coming in as white knights has been definitively disproved so at least we know the reality of the situation.
