Kev the rat is a wum>?!

Besic looked good last night, very good. Did the job he is asked to do without issue and DID play forward - contrary to some comments.

Yesterday proved again why he is not required in a fully fit first XI as we ripped Young Boys open at will first half. He slows everything down too much. The moment he came off against Leicester the game opened up and we looked threatening every time we went forward. But for 2 Howard disasters we would have won comfortably once he came off.

Its great to see Osman and Gibson back in the fold as we will now see some proper footballers in the middle of the park alongside Barry and McCarthy, rather than some disciplinary liability and defensive crab like Besic.

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Unfortunately, your pleasure in having Barry and Osman in the side will prove temporary as both players will be 34 by the season end...and not surprisingly, rather knackered. Regarding Besic being a disciplinary liability though, irony-wise you are aware surely that Gareth Barry has the mantle of the worst record in the Premier League ? Mo Besic is coming to terms with the English game in his first season here hence his timing is out somewhat inevitably resulting in cards. His passing however is sublime at times and a good marker for his future with us.
Never said that Barry didn't have disciplinary issues but Besic has not got the skill set of Barry at this point which gives Barry a pass mark at present in my book. and I'm not interested blooding new talent when we are in the middle of a relegation scrap.

I think the Leicester game probably gave him a little bit of a awakening to what he needs to improve on. Gibson changed the whole dynamic on Sunday, and when Besic came on last night he was playing in the same manner as Gibson. Yes, Young Boys defending like their name suggests, but his passing was spot on last night and his vision was evident, and he covered some ground too. Which is something Gibson can't do as easily.

I wonder if Martinez has been giving him certain instructions on how to play. With progression sealed, he looked like he was given licence to go and create goals last night.

For a 22 year old in a new league and country, he is doing very well at this point

Snails move faster than Barry - he is skill full I admit, but a shadow of his pace of last season!

The criticism frim @Kev The Rat is a little harsh but he has a decent general point. In certain games we don't need to play Besic. To me he is a tackling energetic midfielder who spoils the game and quite mobile on the ball.

Rather than slagging Besic what we really need to do is be thankful we have a wide array of central midfield players with different attributes we can use in different games.
A little harsh is an under statement! Besic has been one of the shining lights of the future this season despite his lack of games!

But you made an issue of it against Besic....that's my point. Its hypocritical when it applies to Barry too (as good as he has been for us this apart) and increasingly so as he loses even more pace and resorts to 'professional' fouls - the Royal Iris would turn quicker than him now sadly. What exactly is Barry's "skill set" now.

Why do any of you give this kev the tw4t person any mileage?

Hes just a kopite wum fishing for bait, simply neg him and put him on ignore, if the troll isnt fed he will koff back to RAWK where he belongs.

Mate it's one thing about doing it in the last 30 mins against a beaten team, it's another doing it against Palace , West Brom and Leicester when all of the opposition are in front of him.

Hes got to improve his authority with the ball against teams who sit in and frustrate. He can't keep surrendering responsibility to others. He is going to be a very good player for us, but christ he has an awful lot to work on

Kev is right in that he slows the game down, but that can be down to hesitancy as he adjusts.

It'll come in time with him as he's improved steadily as the season has gone on, and his raw technical ability is there for all to see.

Just don't think he's an automatic starter right now, and to be fair he himself doesn't either, which shows he has a level head.

Barry slows the game down too. Not as much of a problem if it is balanced out by someone in the same area of the pitch speeding it up when needed.

Barry slows it down when we're under pressure and need men getting forward before we break properly, so the ball doesn't get ahead of play.

Besic slows it down when players are ahead of him and passes are on.

It's just a matter of experience. Gibson last night showed how it was done, Besic will get there in time.
