Mushrooms

Used to take them loads, knew a bloke called Mushroom Dave, who lived on a narrowboat and used to travel the country every mad season filling bags and bags with them, then he'd powder them and make chocolate bars with them, so they'd keep, and be enjoyable to take.

Stopped taking them when they just started being the same every time. Everything would go purple and green and I'd feel really decrepit, like Mr Burns or something.

Always preferred acid tbh. Started in my teens and pretty much tripped through most of my 20s.

My ambition for retirement is to spend it off my tits on mushrooms.

I get drug tested for work a lot so partake no more. I remember driving around the M60 and seeing an underlying visual of Aztec style patterns several weeks after one particularly long period of mushroom use. Those visuals existed in the background for a few weeks and I was never more serene and content than in that period. The sense of everything being connected was there. I also lost interest in football for this time so nothing but positives!

i guy i used to live with, called Dave, used to drive from Oxford to Wales to get them for us all. I don't think they were prob the best in the world, but they were free and fairly harmless

he used to busk with a harp and play dub really loudly from 7am every morning, every cliche you'd expect really

What is it with people called Dave? ?

The dude I knew was pretty much the same, apart from the harp bit. He was also a bit overly fond of speed and Brew and died of a heart attack in his late 40's, sadly.

2 mentions of Dave and heavy mushroom usage.

Let me put 2+2 together...

In the good old days before Skunk, we used to get our weed and blotters off Roger the Hippy, who was a man of principle and refused point blank to have anything to do with powders.

Unfortunately, Roger crashed his motorbike and side car combo into a tree in North Wales, whilst tripping off his box and was no more.

His funeral was like something off a Cheech and Chong video.

I remember going to squat parties/warehouse raves in the late 90's, early 00's and them being absolutely ram jammed full of Italian drug tourists who had come to London just for the Fat Freddies and Illegal warehouse raves. I remember some lad from Genoa telling me how he was just a normal dude who came over for work, got invited to a squat party, discovered LSD and then never went home....

In my experience it seems like most people who take LSD nowadays do it via micro-dosing, people who aren't even into that drug culture or getting smashed. I used to take LSD every other weekend for about a year and felt fine then I had one bad trip and from then on every time I took any kind of mind altering drug whether that be acid, shrooms etc id have a terrible time. Best thing I ever did was quit, some people i know from back then who didn't quit ended up losing the plot completely :(

Same here mate.

I had two bad ones on mushies and that was it for me.

The first one was the worst and stupidly took a load more the second time, just to see if the first time was a one off ( if that makes sense )

I knew a couple of really bright lads, who completely fried their brains from excessive use of acid, speed and dope.

we probably met. i used to play at some.

Dalston squat, Komik@Joiners Arms, Restless Natives, FuQ, jumpers for goalposts.

Welcome back
you're a good lad with an unfortunate name x

i still trip about once a year, combine it with synth-noodling.

gave up everything else long ago.

love this feeling...there must be something to it as everyone reports similar feelings.

i hated skunk too....always monged me out. normal green weed was fine, we used to get it in the basement from some jamaican veg shop in Brixton (Green Leaf, i think it's name)....they got shut down around 2000-ish, then shortly after skunk became dominant...wonder to this day how these events were connected.

one of my oldest mates lost his mind on acid...was convinced everyone was watching him 'n following him, even years later. he even thought i was in on it.

which i kinda was, seen as i introduced him to raves & drugs. ffs.

he's doing alright now tho', moved back up north, got a job and had a kid. happy ending x
