Naismith and jelavic

Like I said before. That's where This club is at. It's called £m's of pounds. We haven't got to put better quality on the bench. Ideally now we should be using Pienaar and Osman from the bench and have better players on the pitch. But we can't afford to compete with the clubs you mention financially and that's why we have to put up with the Naismiths

I don't rate Kennedy massively but he's a lot more likely to change a game or actually do something than Naismith. Why not throw him on there? Or even Vellios. Or Oviedo, who has looked decent when he's given the chance and cost up to £5m depending on which reports you believe. Connor Mcaleny has scored 8 goals in 9 games for the reserves. Maybe it's beginning to change but before a couple of weeks ago Naismith was getting a lot more game time than Barkley. What's all that about?

None of those options require spending any more money.

I haven't seen any of those you mention play. I think Ross is ahead of all the midfielders on the bench at present. Personally I think Moyes thinks Naismiths a good team player. He's gave him a lot of opportunity especially at the start of the season. Towards the end I think Moyes relises he's not good enough.

Not seeing him as a playmaker. Think his movement is good enough to make space for his partner and chip in with the odd goal. I wouldnt expect him to set the work a light there either. But I think he'd command a little more respect.

By the way we are Everton not Chelsea, Bayern Munich , Barcelona. He's the kind of player you'd expect on the bench and have to put up with at a club like this. Anyone expecting anything of better quality under this board is living in Narnia.

We'v only just let go someone that was the best in the game at that. His name was Tim Cahill. The team play suffered massively because of cahils inadequacy at having the qualities to play the No.10 role.

He was very very good at doing what he did in his own way tho (until the end).
Naismith has none of the playmaker ect qualities of a No.10, nor does he have the qualities of Tim Cahill.

Naismith is the most one-paced player I've seen probably in an Everton shirt.

I like his work rate, and effort but he isn't great is he? If he'd scored a few more goals earlier on in the season (when Mirallas was injured) then maybe my opinion of him may of been different. I can remember him missing a fair few easy chances as well.

I'm starting to think that Jelavic is a lost case, or maybe Moyes can't utilise strikers correctly. He did try at the weekend but he seems to be in all the wrong places at the wrong times. Hopefully he'll score a couple of goals before the end of the season, Saturday would be a good time.

Would any one like to see Naismith play behind jelavic instead of him playing outwide, because they had a great understanding with each other at rangers and scored a shed full of goals between them

Yes.

If Naismith is ever on the pitch, that's where I want him.

I'd rather have Jelavic paid with Anichebe but IF Moyes feels like he HAS to play Naismith, then right off of Jelavic is where I want him.

It wasn't so long ago on here that Coleman was getting slated and almost chased out of the club for his performances on the right side of midfield - A lot felt he was playing out of position and shouldn't be properly judged until he plays in his natural position at fullback, obviously things have worked out for him since he reverted to full back - It is kind of a similar situation to Naismith, he has looked crap but that could be mostly playing in a position he's not comfortable with while all the time his confidence is getting lower by the week - he may turn out to be worse up front but I'd like to see him given an opportunity there at least.......................then feel free to slate/rate him

Ok its obvious with Naismith, but has no one considered that Jelavic is being played out of position too!
Moyes is once again ruining a striker by insisting of putting a square peg in a round hole, playing Jelavic in the Striker position, when what he really needs to come good again is to be placed right in front of the opposition's goal-mouth for deflected shots to be scored off his ass.

Also, this is fantastic.

huge season coming for everton now! FINALLY WE SEE 2 UP FRONT!

THERE ARE SOME ABSOLUTE NUGGETS HERE

Chemistry can sometimes be more important than skill

Would eb happy to see Naismith actually played in his proper position for a change. That being said, I don't want Jela near a pitch until he sorts his attitude out

Naismith playing behind Vic with Felli in midfield could work I guess

I suspect that one reason Naismith is at Everton is because Jelavic is at Everton. Jelavics decline is not down to lack of interest or effort on his part...he simply does not look fit from the moment he steps on the pitch. Naismith might thrive if Jelavic was playing like he did last year, but personally I even have doubts about that. One reason we are not fourth(and at our best we can match anyone) is that we are simply not fit enough, and this is because Moyes does not have a clue about squad rotation. Its all very well people saying that our bench isn't as good as the top threes benches, at least on reputation, but we'll never really know until there is proper rotation. I don't think Moyes ever considers much more than his 'best team'...everyone else is just there to fill in, and it must be frustrating for squad players. It doesn't help, of course, getting knocked out of cup competitions too early, most of the time(I mean the League Cup or whatever its called now). Another thing...if Moyes is here for the summer and next season, I hope he addresses his usually abysmal pre season preparations.

Naismith is not good enough at the moment to play for Everton. On Saturday I said to my lad 'no not Naismith' and within a minute he couldn't control the ball. Oviedo should have come on instead of Naismith. Will Naismith ever be good enough? At the moment I don't think so.

Has Naimsith at any point been played in the position he played at Rangers actually?

That's a fair point but then did Billy ever play in the position that suited him. On Saturday he just couldn't trap the ball without it running away from him. So it doesn't matter where he was playing his touch was awful and it has been in a number of games. He seems nervous when he comes on, so that may have something to do with it.

Just as a bit of fun, can anyone name in the last ten years one striker who has come here and not suffered a career damaging blow to their confidence?
