Im no Benitez fan but how people are moaning about signing two highly rated full backs is beyond me.

Even Rangers fans coming on here praising him but of course the 'experts' know best lol

£40mil ?

£18mil + £16mil = £34mil after all clauses are hit will be more like £25mil before those clauses may be triggered.

£25mil if both are on 4.5 year deals means we'll be spending about £5.5mil in terms of FFP budgets.

£5.5mil + their waged is probably what we make on a loan fee for Digne along with James' saved wages.

If that’s the case why didn’t we spend on structured deals like those in the summer ?

If we were 7th now rather 15th none of this would be happening.

Our track record of shifting players for one

Benitez press conference yesterday where he more or less admitted he had no offers or interest for the player.

The fact that we have telegraphed our intentions by bringing in a replacement before selling the incumbent.

All of it looks like we are lining up for the standard deadline day loan.

Reports out of Italy today suggest that’s what inter are looking for.

Maybe not spending money in the summer has put us in the clear to make these deals now, or we have saved enough money from getting peeople off the wage bill to buy these players now.

Not convinced that within 4 months we are now ready to splash the cash. I mean we lost loads of players in the summer from the wage bill also - Bolasie Walcott Besic. Didn’t help us.

The man responsible for not shifting players has gone now right? So everything is directly with Benitez
