How do you know he needs 3 months or more to bed in. He could be ready to go now.

Even if he has to learn on the job, right now he is a better option than both Coleman and Kenny. As I said in the last post, I'm more concerned about the manager holding him back than I am about throwing him straight in.
True I dont know for certain on his ability to be ready for a starting spot. But even for an experienced player in the SPL the step up to the premier league can be daunting. That's a lot of pressure to heap at a 20 year old coming from an inferior league that doesn't regularly play for the club. That's what lead me to state three months but you're right , he seems highly rated and he can't be worse than the current dismal right backs at our club.

Kenny has had plenty of chances and simply isn’t good enough, he’ll end up playing for someone like Sunderland or Derby in a year or two! Branthwaite is a far better prospect but isn’t and never will be a right back!
Patterson will be in the team ahead of Coleman before this season has finished!

Doubt it

I don’t pay my forum subscription to log on here and see you softening your stance on this boy, David. Where’s the blood and thunder??
I dont give unconditional support.

I'm still behind Benitez overall. I think he'll turn us around given time to bed his players in and get players back fully fit. But the performances in many games are unacceptable and a signing like this looks panicky.

How's this signing look panicky? Weren't we trying to sign him in the beginning of the season? You can question the signing but the move seems to be thoroughly thought out.

We'll get a few crosses from wide right and he has an eye for getting forward at all times; but that can have its pitfalls, and I expect us to be utterly swamped down that flank by any decent team.

He's going to have to be extremely productive setting goals up to be able to justify a place in that already rocky defence.

That makes Strike One for Benitez on this signing for me.
Oh you are good dave, you are a sneaky one, this is how you weasel yourself onto the out side. I have to admire your shadiness lol lol others are going to be lost without your backing on the luvvies side lol lol

The fee is a panic buy. The bid is at least double the one in the summer.

When this lad is regularly flying down the wing, getting crosses in and not regularly getting smoked by opposition left wingers of average pace then you'll think it's a revelation given how little we've addressed this position over the years
