We're award winning mate. In fact we have more best forum awards than Elon Musk's Twitter.
Can't agree with you that both Holgate and Godfrey are better defenders at the moment, Holgate is a headless chicken and a faux hard man, who spends far more time shouting at his team mates for their mistakes than he does trying to address his own shortcomings. As you say he has just never kicked on. Godfrey's positional sense is absolutely awful, much worse than Patterson's and that is a sad indictment. He has also lost his pace and can't trap or pass a football.Well, that's not true now is it?
Exhibit 1. Exhibit 2. Exhibit 3.
Holgate was the Players’ Player of the Season and Young Player of the Year in 2019/20.
It's a real shame he hasn't kicked on - perhaps a big part of that is we've 'Evertoned him'.
If he went to Burnley or someone a year or so ago we'd probably have fans asking why we let him go.
I agree Patterson should play now, but I also agree Dyche was right to try Godfrey and Holgate. Both I suspect are better defenders right now.
Are b tter def nd RS than Patterson at the moment
Form counts and Godfrey and Holgate at right back were awful, so lets hope Patterson can come in and do a job. He'll offer more going forward, but I do have a niggling doubt over his ability to defend/his positional sense in particular.
As I said earlier, I think Dyche has put our entire team higher up to try and find goals and so he needs his defenders to defend.

Just think back as recently as Palace away, Holgate, and Newcastle at home, Godfrey, now ask yourself do you really think they are better defenders than Patterson? They may well be just about as good as Patterson defensively, but, that are both awful going forward.
As I posted in the relegation thread the lad offers nothing to this team. He's even more bland than Mykolenko on the left.
The 45 minutes he had yesterday underlined that. Dyche praised him in passing but I'm not sure why he did other than maybe as a bit of flanneling to boost confidence.
He backed off every Leicester player running at him with the ball. Maybe he thinks showing them the touchline is the only thing you have to do to fulfil your job as a RB. Other times he's doing his party trick of jogging back from the halfway line to leave the CBs to come across and mop the danger up. That'd be ok if he was at all competent in this league at getting forward and offering a threat. He isn't though. Leicester's defence was dead on its feet last 20 minutes and even a 34 year old Coleman would have been getting at them with Iwobi, but Patterson was floating about like a spare arse part offering nothing. No overlaps, just presenting on the off chance he can circulate the ball in the middle third of the pitch.
Which is why for me a bold descision has to come from Dyche: get attacking intent on that right flank or we're done for this season. If that measn Iwobi slips back further and Gray plays in front of him that'd suit me more than us carrying an unhelpful passenger.
I'm right though.Oh bloody hell.
I'm not being funny mate but, if you would, define "well" and specify what he did that earned him any praise...Patterson is no Alex Cleland but after coming on against Leicester he did ok so I'd stick with him (ahead of Holgate and Godfrey)

You just said put Iwobi right back because Patterson can't defend?
Iwobi though?
Reported.
