Really good performance, he’s got a lot of potential to be a top player. Was very impressed tonight, looked strong defensively. Annoying we had Godfrey and Holgate in ahead of him.

Those decisions and the decision to keep Keane instead of playing Mina have cost us. Hopefully Dyche has learnt his lesson now.

A few people have said this but I think it a bit unfair. Patterson got skinned once spectacularly, the other times Mitomo thankfully ran inside doing little damage. Mitomo got the better of that first twenty mins but I don't think it was nearly as bad as people are making out. I say this as someone who is still not overly impressed with Patterson's defensive duties.

Feared for him after that early skinning but he barely put a foot wrong after that. Could have lost confidence but put it behind him quickly - not the sort of maturity you'd expect from someone so young.

Also, loved him chasing down that ball on the wing for about 60 yards where it only just went out.

Said this in the match thread, but I reckon Patterson will have an "easier" game v Foden/Grealish on Sunday than he did against Mitoma today. The lad looks like he can learn a lesson and as a result benefit.

Mitoma gave him a tough time initially but by the end of the game he came out on top. He’s a battler and doesn’t play with fear of making mistakes.

Came of age tonight as he needed to perform when it really mattered which he did after a slightly shaky start.

Bodes well for the future. And he will have an Everton legend mentoring him so it's all good.

He won't...it'll be just as tough...top tier both of them, but tonight will give him a real confidence boost

I'm actually quite offended by @Moomin

Just enjoyed seeing Patterson putting in a coming of age performance while reading repeated negativity during the game which quickly turned into xenophobic comments.

Seems to be a few posters always slating Rangers and former Rangers players.

Not often you see a serious anti-Irish or anti-Celtic post.

If its banter, perhaps there should be a separate thread away from the football part or the forum for the stupid people?

The attacking potential is there which is more important in today’s game. He is a powerful and willing runner. A tad clumsy but I see flashes from him. We can work with him at right back. Left back is an absolute priority in the transfer window unless Myko has an epiphany.

He was brilliant. Seems people have forgotten how good he was before his injury.

He was one of our best players.
