It's a bit much to call it a fantastic perfromance. I thought Mykolenko - who I've also criticised - had a better game than Patterson, tbf...and I'm not going to call that fantastic either.High praise here @davek after he just put in a fantastic performance. Rather than just saying he put in a great performance, you still find ways to spin it negatively against him.
Ok, he was just “fine”.It's a bit much to call it a fantastic perfromance. I thought Mykolenko - who I've also criticised - had a better game than Patterson, tbf...and I'm not going to call that fantastic either.
Patterson grew into the game after almost making two calamitous errors falling asleep getting caught under the ball at the far post and almost bringing Mitoma down when he skinned him in the box.
Both FBs though had fine games, and that was because the whole team were so mobile and putting in a shift helping each other out.
I hope someone quotes it at me too. I dearly hope they do. But atm he's still way off.Ok, he was just “fine”.
I’ll quote you your own comments that you made when Coleman first signed. I hope the same happens. Give the lad a chance to develop and claim the position.
I thought it was a very Coleman-esque performance from young Patterson yesterday.I hope someone quotes it at me too. I dearly hope they do. But atm he's still way off.
If Coleman was fit he'd be straight back into this team.
Especially since the game he had at Goodison had Mitoma running rings around him!First 18 minutes or so I was petrified for him. They were targeting him as a weak link and Mitoma was breaking his ankles.
After that I thought he was really impressive, strong in the tackle, quick and what an engine to keep getting up and down.
As I said, I'm ready and waiting to eat humble pie, just as I have been with McNeill.I thought it was a very Coleman-esque performance from young Patterson yesterday.
He will make mistakes now and again, as the young (and old) Coleman did and does, but I really like what @Eggs said - Patterson plays like it matters and that will really do for me.
He will get better with our and the other players help and support.
Patterson ideally needs a season on loan in the championship for me. I think he could develop quickly there, he has been thrust into the first eleven at times this season due to our poor transfer decisions and has had his ups and downs- he was dreadful for a period before and after the World Cup.I hope someone quotes it at me too. I dearly hope they do. But atm he's still way off.

A handful of good appearances is all it takes? McNeil has been as hot and cold as Patterson across the season (considering Patterson started well whereas McNeil started poorly)As I said, I'm ready and waiting to eat humble pie, just as I have been with McNeill.
