2022/23 Nathan Patterson

This club has had youngsters come through who were mentally fragile and had no personal grit in them. That may have something to do with millenial generation coming through.

Barkley, Gordon, Baningime, Davies, Holgate, Small, Garbutt etc etc

We as a fan base can't work fast enough to dismiss a young player like Patterson. Ideally he could've done a loan spell like Coleman did at Blackpool but for that we'd need Coleman at 31/32 years of age still fit and consistent enough for PL. We instead have thick frauds like Holgate who'll only be remembered for a shove during a 0-0 draw against RS.

All I know is we have to hope on this one. Seamus is reaching his breaking point and the Godfrey’s and Holgate’s don’t cut it. He has the tools. He is a powerful runner with some pace and he isn’t afraid to cross or beat his man. He has the attacking qualities unlike the one’s I mentioned above. If Myko wants to make it at this level, he has to develop the confidence that Patterson has so McNeil isn’t left on an island to carry the game by himself.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

If - a poem by Rudyard Kipling written circa 1895 as a tribute to Leander Starr Jameson.

David Brent

If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening, all over this land
I'd hammer out danger, I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters... all over this land

Nathan Patterson will someday show that he is different class. He will show just what a decent footballer he is. This guy will have a top career.
Just don’t think that all Everton supporters think like me. Just don’t think that all supporters realise , what a gem , we have. Just don’t think that Patterson is fully appreciated , just yet. But he’ll grow on us.
I really rate this guy. Based on what , I hear punters say. Based on seeing him play for Scotland. Based on seeing him be MOTM , a few times , for Scotland. There’s a footballer there. He’s young. He’s learning the game.
Just my opinion folks . But this guy is going to the top. Just hope it’s with us.

That poem always sounds brilliant no matter how many times I’ve read it.
